Principal's Message...
Reflection offers opportunities for learning. Last week, our community came together to participate in a visioning activity and although it was a proud highlight of the week, I could not help but reflect and wonder how I could lead to bring more voices to the table.
Surely, the time and day could have been a barrier for some families. But what if other barriers were standing in the way for families to engage? And worse, what if they felt that their voices didn't matter or wouldn't be heard?
My experiences in education have allowed me to visit, teach and lead in many schools over the past couple of decades. I have explored quite a few school cultures and believe the magic of Peace Dale is that this school is greater than one leader, one teacher, or one program.
I believe that Peace Dale's power is sourced by it's community- our teachers, our families and our students. Here are some quotes from members of our community, that have crossed my desk, this week:
"It's my hope that you, as a school leader, will make every effort to ensure that all kids at Peace Dale are equally valued and cherished, not just by their teachers (who, as I said, are the best of the best as far as I'm concerned) but by the school community as a whole."
"...had a wonderful experience at Peace Dale, primarily because of the professionalism, enthusiasm, kindness, and often super-human effort of the amazing PDES teachers. I can't think of anything more important than a high quality, enthusiastic teaching staff if you want to have a first-rate school."
"If All means All, then we have to find the pathways to make sure that all voices are represented - especially those who don't have a seat at the table."
"...and that making PDES a place where everyone is supported and everyone can achieve will be the top priority in taking our school to the next level."
Let's continue to unite and create our future purpose because with unity, the sky doesn't have to be the limit for our kids, because they can reach for the stars and beyond.
Have a great week!
Best always,
~Mrs. Komocar
