The government is a organization that helps their country. It is very different than the system of government that the Colonists had back then. The government consists of the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branch. This will inform about you about the Presidential Democracy.
Democracy by Sofia Merladett-Larroca
A democracy is a type of government that is made by the people. For example, in the United States of America we get to choose our leaders of our country by voting. The largest amount of people that vote for a person gets to be the President (the person that everyone votes for). To vote you need to be 18 yearsand older . The democracy consists of three branches: the Executive Branch, the Judicial Branch, and the Legislative Branch. These branches don’t have much power. These branches influence the way our government is.
Each state, town and country have responsibilities. One of the responsibilities of the federal government is to make sure to have fair laws. Another responsibility that the federal government has is to control the economy of the country. One of the most important job that the federal government have is to make sure that national security is secured. They also need to make laws for our country by using the Judicial branch, Legislative branch and the Executive branch.
The local government controls the library, fire department, police department, parks, public pools, public recreation, and ect.
One of the responsibilities of the state is to make sure that everyone that lives in that state has a education. The state also has the responsibility of making sure that the roads are all safe for the drivers in that state. The roads need to be maintained clean. Transportation is also very important. The state controls the trains and buses that ride along that state.
Government affects the way we live in today. For example, without a government we wouldn’t have laws. A government helps people be safe and have rights. The people that live in the United States have rights and have a fair government. Other countries don’t. Their life is different than ours because of the government they have. Government affects the way our life is everyday. It is affected by the way the government stands.
The bill of rights is a document stating the rights that the people that live in the United States have. The bill of rights are also made by Amendment. There are ten Amendments to the Bill of Rights. Though there are more than ten, only ten are stated in the Bill of Rights.
The First Amendment says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” This means that congress can’t make a law that doesn’t let people have the right of practicing their religion. It also means that the people that live in the United States have the right to peacefully have the freedom of speech.
The Sixth Amendment states “In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed; which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor; and to have the assistance of counsel for his defence.” This means that everyone has the right to have a fair trial if anything happens.
The Third Amendment says “No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner; nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law”. The Third Amendment means that no soldier can intrude into a house only if the soldier owens the house. The Bill of Rights is important because, we won't have the rights we have today if James Madison and didn't write the Bill of Rights in 1789.
Legislative by Samuel Gratz
The Legislative branch makes laws and passes them so that people can be safe and happy. The Legislative Branch is made up of the house of Representatives. Each state has Representatives. The bigger the population is in your state the more Representatives. It is also made up of the Senate. There are two Senators for each state no matter what. If you are a Senator you have six year terms and Representatives serve two year terms. must be 25 years or older and must have been a citizen of the united states for 7 years. you can be voted for to go to congress. The Legislative branch is the only branch that can print money and make taxes that people have to pay.
Fun fact: New york's senior senator is Chuck Schumer
Representatives: Someone who is appointed to go to congress
Senator: A person who is also to join congress
Legislative Branch: A branch that makes laws and establishes tax
These are just some of the facts of the legislative branch and how it works.
Fun fact: New York has 27 Senators
Fun fact: The name of our senior Senator is Charles Schumer
Judicial by Ashanty
The Supreme Court makes the judicial branch . The Supreme Court has nine justices they are Sonia Sotomayor, Stephen G. Breyer, A. Alito, Elena Kagan And at the bottom row Clarence Thomas, Antonin Scalia, the chief justice John G. Roberts, Anthony Kennedy, and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This branch decides if the laws are fair. The justices job is to decide if the country’s laws would go against the Constitution. The Constitution gives some responsibilities to the Judicial Branch that other branches don't have.
The Executive Branch makes sure that all laws are followed. The Executive Branch is made up of the President, Vice President, and the Cabinet Members. The Cabinet Members are all the Secretaries that have been selected by the President. The President is called the chief of the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. The 15 departments that are part of the Executive Branch are: the Secretary of State, the Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Interior, the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of Labor, a Secretary of Health and Human Services, Secretary of Housing and Urban development, Secretary of Transportation, Secretary of Homeland Security,Secretary of Education, Secretary of Energy, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, and Attorney General. The President can be a President for only 4 years at a time. To be President of the United States you have to be born in the United States and be in the country for 14 Years and be 35 Years and older.
The government and democracy help our country be better. In conclusion, the Legislative, Judicial branch and the Executive branch helps the Presidential Democracy do its job. Our system of government is very different than the Parliament democracy that the thirteen Colonies had.
