Hello, Kia ora, Chomreabsour, Mālo ni, Ni hao, Kia orāna, Talofa lava, Namaste, Hola, Hallo, Chào bạn, Bula Vinaka, Kumusta, Guten Tag, Mālō e lelei , An-nyeong-ha-se-yo, greetings to all our School Families.
From the Principal’s Desk
Seeing our rugby teams compete so admirably at the Thames Valley Championship filled me with immense pride. The students were committed, played incredibly hard for each other, stayed positive during the tough times and their sportsmanship was to be commended.
Two of our learner dimensions Manaakitanga (Team Player) and Whaia kia U (Strive to Succeed) were exemplified here.
During the week there have been a number of sporting events that have required parental assistance with supervision and transport. We thank you greatly for this, I know some of you are making work sacrifices in order to assist. Please know that without you our trips, sporting events and other activities cannot go ahead.
Finally, we wish our Winter Olympics Sports Team every success next week in Matamata. We know you will represent yourselves and our school proudly.

Thames Valley Tackle Rugby Tournament 2022
This year’s seven aside tournament attracted a large number of teams from across the Thames Valley. The Year 7/8 team went unbeaten in pool play by playing a high tempo brand of rugby with strong defence. Crunch time came when they played against a skillful Mercury Bay side in their Semi Final. A 15-5 win meant they faced rivals Whangamata in the Grand Final. A very large Whangamata side were the eventual winners scoring five tries to one. The score line didn’t reflect the effort, passion and determination Stanley Avenue played with in the final. All players are to be congratulated for coming Runners Up in a 20 team competition.
Not to be upstaged by the Year 7/8 team, the Year 5/6 team emerged victorious in the Plate Final beating Waerenga School 10 - 1. The boys played a committed, physical and fast paced style of rugby throughout the day. We look forward to seeing this group stay together and achieve some more amazing results in the years to come.
A special mention must go to Mike Horan and Stu Hubbert for their coaching expertise. Additionally, Vinnie Narayan, Amanda McRae, Anna McLoughlin were awesome supporters on the day and the Knight family’s assistance with transport was greatly appreciated.
2022 Squash and Tennis Champions
Wow! Congratulations to Charlotte Ryan and Xavier van Kuijk, our Year 7/8 Squash and Tennis Champions for 2022. These trophies were hotly contested during Weeks 1 - 3 of this term. It was great to see some of our students display a wonderful 'Give it a Go' attitude and get involved in our Tennis and Squash tournaments this year.

Room 8 STEM Challenge
We had 90 minutes to design and test 4 different kinds of catapult. Our aim was to get the pompom as far as we could. We had limited resources to make our designs (10 popsicle sticks, 10 rubber bands and a wooden spoon). We then had a competition to see which group's design was the most effective.
Thank you Miss Forrest. This was an awesome challenge for Room 8
We need your Yummy Apple Stickers and Bags...Please!!!
This year is the 25th anniversary for the Yummy Apple Sticker Promotion. For the next two terms Stanley Ave will be taking part in this promotion to try and earn some amazing sports equipment!
All you need to do is purchase any of the Yummy apple varieties and bring the stickers to school! Alternatively, if you purchase a bag of these apples, send the cut out from the bag to school.
Every point counts!
1 sticker = 1 point
