Frank L. Smart Intermediate
From the Office
Hey there Smarties! Another week has gone by here at Smart, and it is already midterms for first quarter. In our advisory classes we started learning our Boys town social skills. This week we learned the social skill of “Following Directions”, why it is important, and have been practicing this skill throughout the day. Our Smart athletes have had many hard fought battles this past week and continue to show great sportsmanship. There are always many opportunities coming up to support our students so…
Get out there, get involved, and GO EAGLES!!!

New Visitor Sign-In
The safety of our students and staff is one of the Davenport Community School District’s highest priorities. For many years we’ve had a visitor sign-in process in place at our schools using paper, pens, and generic visitor badges.
As we begin the 2015-2016 school year we’ll be using a new software system, V-Soft Raptor, to manage check in procedures for visitors to our buildings. Raptor enables schools to produce visitor badges, electronically check all visitors against registered sexual offender databases, and monitor volunteer hours.
The system is easy to use. Visitors will be asked to provide a government-issued ID (driver’s license, passport, etc.) in order to enter our schools beyond the main office area. The ID is quickly scanned and the system compares the information to the national sex offender database. Assuming no match is found, a visitor badge with your name, photo, date/time, and destination within the building is printed. If a visitor does not have a government issued ID, schools will provide an alternate form that will need to be verified and approved.
The process is simple and quick. More information is available on the Visitor Management System on our website. If you visit specific schools frequently, feel free to stop in at the front office to check it out and get registered in the system.
