Wrangler Weekly
Week of September 4, 2023

Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
Week two is a wrap! Students are doing a great job of wearing IDs and following expectations. We successfully completed our first evacuation drill today and students enjoyed their first Karaoke Friday at lunch.
This was also a big week as volleyball had their first game -- football sees their start next week. We had a huge, supportive student section on Thursday night. See below for reminders on our process for students attending games with an Academic Pass (wristband).
Our first progress report comes out next Friday. Please make it a point to check Skyward for your students' grades and reach out to teachers with any concerns. Teachers are aware that there have been some back-to-school illnesses going around -- know that students will get the help they need, but they will need to put forth the effort to get caught up.
Finally, as shared via email yesterday, we will kick-off our campus fundraiser on Tuesday to support Wrangler Time Clubs and student celebrations. We will continue to share details on that, but know your Wrangler will be coming home Tuesday with a "Golden Ticket." We thank you in advance for your help on funding our unique SBMS programs.
Here comes a long, well-deserved weekend!
We hope your family has a safe, enjoyable Labor Day!
Go Wranglers!

Attendance Matters!
September is National Attendance Awareness Month! We will be talking up the importance of consistent school attendance all month long and the positive impact it has on your student’s success!
Attending School Regularly:
· Fosters a classroom community between teachers and students.
· Leads to academic success.
· Allows for students to gain knowledge from classroom instruction and discussions.
· Provides time for social interactions with peers.
· Empowers students to become more engaged and involved in classroom and extracurricular activities.
Attend Today – Thrive Today, Tomorrow, and Beyond!
SBMS Campus Attendance this week:
- 6th grade - 95%
- 7th grade - 93.7%
- 8th grade - 95.3%
- OVERALL - 94.67%
Just missed our goal of 95% for campus -- let's get everyone healthy this weekend and back in school!
Academic Wristbands
Here at SBMS, our students are rewarded for their hard work and good grades with academic wristbands which allow them free access to all home SBMS athletic events. So long as your student is passing all of their classes, they are eligible for an academic wristband every week.
Typically, failure reports are done on Mondays for the week, and we use this report. If they are failing on Monday, but bring their grade up by Thursday, we are still using the grade they had on Monday. The only time students can get the wristband is during their lunch period. They cannot get one at the end of the day just prior to the game.
Students must have their student ID to get a pass AND to get into the game; temporary ID's will not be accepted. They can still go to the game, but they have to be picked up from school and brought back with an adult to stay with them. If we have two games in a week, one wristband will be given for the week: if there is a game on Tuesday and another one on Thursday, they need to keep their wristband on. They will need to have their student ID for both games.
Any student staying for these events must be picked up by 6:45 -- even if the game is not yet finished.
