Principal's Desk
We hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Thanksgiving week. We wanted to remind everyone that as we head toward the end of the semester please remind your students to continue to turn assignments in on time and prepare for assessments. Semester exams will start January 13th and will count for 1/7th of your student's semester average.
We also want to let you know that we continue to review campus expectations with students every six weeks to help maintain a safe, friendly, and successful campus. This is essential to help all students perform at their highest level in the classroom, as well as in extracurricular activities. We have appreciated all the great support that we have received from parents and community in this area this year.
We thank you again for helping make Wayside exceptional!
Sincerely,
John Fahey
Principal
Standard Response Protocol Drills
The safety of your child, our school staff, and support personnel is very important to us here at Wayside. To maintain a safe environment for your children to study and learn, we believe it is very important for us to practice our emergency and crisis response plans by having drills throughout the school year. We utilize state and local guidelines as well as the Standard Response Protocol system to ensure we have a plan in place for every type of situation. Information and resources about this can be found on the following website https://txssc.txstate.edu/tools/srp-toolkit/ and has all of our language used to communicate the situation with students and staff.
We reviewed this language with all staff and students at the start of the year. At this time, we have practiced a fire evacuation, lockdown, and hold with students and they have done a phenomenal job. We will continue that momentum throughout the rest of the school year. If you have any questions about our safety protocols or procedures, please contact Assistant Principal Kayla Livingston by phone or email at klivingston@ems-isd.net.
