Week 3- Term 3 2022

Big picture

Kia ora e te whānau,

We have had a week of illness this week with many children away. Thank you to those families who kept their children at home until they were well again.

In this colder weather please remember that the children play outside if it's not raining and need a warm clothing. It's also helpful to have a change of trousers and socks if have a child you enjoys getting muddy!

Keep warm.

Ngā mihi,

Pounamu Teachers.

Relationship and Sexuality Education - Monday

We have started our Relationship and Sexuality Education programme.

The topic this coming Monday is as follows:

Y2s -

  • Students will engage in physical activity and understand the benefits of exercise.

  • Students will investigate how our bodies move.

Y3s -

  • Students will describe how their body has changed and grown since birth.

  • Students will identify the things they need for healthy growth and development.

For those of you who were unable to come to the parent meeting the link to our presentation is here.

If you have any questions please contact Amanda at amanda@paparangi.school.nz.

Reading at home

Every week your child has a selection of readers to choose from to take home for reading practise. These readers should be at a level that your child can read by themselves. If they need help try pausing, prompting and praising. Ask them to look at the initial letter of the word, and think about what looks right, sounds right and makes sense.

We find that reading consistently with children is the best way to help them progress, especially when they are first starting to learn to read.

Try to keep if fun, be positive, and make it a time for you to have some quiet time with your child.

To support reading you can also login to Sunshine online and Epic books. They have online reading and activities you can do. Sunshine online is login paparangi password - school. Epic is a site you can login yourself.
