How Reality Is Contact
Zoe
It’s like one of those horror movies
That really scare you
That chill you right down to your bones
That make you want to look behind you
And at the same time
Keep running
They aren’t “scary”
No, they’re worse
They get you thinking
I remember a porch and grapes
And I have pictures of me
But younger
Younger, when I didn’t
Have questions
Frightening questions about the universe
About life and death
About the future
Younger when I didn’t think as much
Oh it’s frightening
And it hurts
The fear of it
The unknown
But
Once I get over the fear
I’ll see so much clearer
Zoe
Now in middle school, Zoe has loved to write for a long time. She first started with a book called "Spring is Here" which was written and illustrated in kindergarten. She still has it. Zoe started writing poetry soon after reading Where the Sidewalk Ends. One of her all time favorite poets in Maya Angelou, author of "Still I Rise". When she's not scribbling down new ideas, she can be found playing her saxophone or swimming laps.
