Howbert Happenings
Week of January 25-29
🎉Monday Fun Day!🤗
Calling all students! Did you know that if you have perfect attendance and turn in all of your assignments for the week you will be invited to MONDAY FUN DAY??
Students that qualify will be invited to a virtual, fun lunch of their choosing. Students can do yoga with Mr. Miner, do a craft with Mrs. Schott, or choose from many other fun activities! This is an optional reward that qualifying students can take part in during lunch on Asynchronous Mondays. So do your very best and we will see you there!
💻Technology and Replacement Parts📱
Please notify the school as soon as possible if:
a cord is missing or broken. We have genuine replacement parts for purchase instead of something from Walgreens/Amazon. Third party parts can fry the chips inside iPads and Chromebooks, creating a more costly repair.
- there is damage to the device (e.g. broken screen). Continuing to use a device can cause further damage, which in turn can create a more costly repair.
Also...
- If you have a Chromebook without a school-provided case on it please contact Mrs. Schott! We would like all Chromebooks to have a case.
- If your Chromebook is getting a little dirty, please let your teacher know. Mrs. Schott has a special cleaner for them. Please do not use other chemicals/cleaners on Chromebooks!
- All students are asked to please charge their Chromebooks or iPads the night before school so they are fully-charged and ready for the school day.
- Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd graders: please do not bring your charger to school, but DO bring your iPad unless your teacher says otherwise.
- 3rd, 4th & 5th graders: you may bring your Chromebook charger should it be needed and make sure to bring your Chromebook everyday.
- We ask that all students please label their charger with the child's name on a piece of tape. Chargers are pricey to replace!
- As always, if you need assistance with technology please reach out to Mrs. Schott or the front office:
- Mrs. Schott - lisa.schott@d11.org - 719-328-4224
- Howbert Office - 719-328-4200
❗In-School Safety Reminders❗
Families please:
- Complete the At-Home Health Screen EVERY morning before school. This is a check to make sure that your child is okay to attend school that day. (You can find it and more information attached below)
- Do not send your student to school if they are exhibiting any symptoms, if you or anyone in the household has been possibly been exposed to Covid-19 or has been tested for Covid-19.
Review the following with your student:
- Wearing your mask properly. Masks are to be worn at all times except during outdoor mask breaks during which children are at least 6 feet from others.
- Handwashing. Teachers and staff are ensuring that students wash their hands frequently throughout the day. Please encourage your child to wash and/or sanitize their hands OFTEN.
- Social Distancing - We know children are going to be excited to see each other and that it's going to be hard not to hug each other...it will be for us, too! Please remind kiddos to keep their distance from their friends and greet them with an air high five, foot bump or wave.
Our goal is to keep them SAFE and in-person! With your help we know that we can make the second semester a great success!

WE ARE BETTER TOGETHER!

🌲Catamount - Outdoor Learning🌱
4th/5th grade will be attending their Catamount session Jan.26, 9:00-11:00a. We will be working to reschedule the session that they missed.
Please note that, unfortunately, in order to keep cohorts together this is for in-person students ONLY. Online students will receive Catamount lessons and activities in Schoology. Also, in order to keep our groups small and ensure social distancing, parents/families of in-person students are not permitted on Catamount field trips on those days. Thank you for your understanding!
📝Asynchronous Mondays & Material Pick-Ups📋
Mondays will NOT change after in-person learning resumes on January 19th. ALL students (in-person and remote) will be learning asynchronously online on Mondays. This means that in-person students will be in the building Tuesday - Friday during a normal school week.
