Heart Challenge
We have partnered with the American Heart Association again and are kicking off our Kids Heart Challenge program on February 13th. We are very excited to participate as we work together to raise money for the American Heart Association and learn how nutrition and being active can help us live longer, healthier lives.
Through the Kids Heart Challenge, we are going to talk about three things:
1. Habits to keep our hearts healthy
2. How we can help others
3. Encourage everyone to take the challenge to adopt one of three healthy habits
Choose your challenge
a. DRINK WATER INSTEAD OF SUGARY BEVERAGES
b. DO ONE KIND THING EVERY DAY
c. EXERCISE 60 MINUTES EVERY DAY
Your student can earn the Heart Hero characters and additional gifts by asking friends and family to make $5 donations in the support of the American Heart Association. Each $5 donation earns your student a different Heart Hero character!!
Thank you so much for supporting our school and the American Heart Association. Together we can do this!
National School Counselors Week
School Counselors Week is the first week in February. This year's theme is: "School Counselors: Helping Build Better Humans," and will be celebrated from Feb. 3rd thru 7th, 2020, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of school counselors within U.S. school systems. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by the American School Counseling Association, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success as well as prepare and plan for college, career and life.
I ask you to join me in recognizing Gateway Counselors Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Forman. Feel free to send them a card or quick message letting them know how much you appreciate them and all that they do for our students and families!!
