Counselor's Corner - October, 2017
Character is Super!
To reinforce the importance of positive character, each class was given a Character Cape for display in their classroom. Classes who demonstrate an understanding of the character trait for the month will be awarded with a button at the end of the month to pin onto the cape and serve as a reminder for them each day in the classroom.
We launched the program this month with a focus on respect. The article below provides additional information.

Ben Franklin Shows Respect
Throughout the week classes made chain-links by writing examples of ways in which they can show respect on strips of paper. For example, on Wednesday as we focused on Respect for the Community/Earth, classes wrote on the paper links, citing examples of ways in which they can show that kind of respect (e.g., recycling or not polluting).
On Friday in a final Week of Respect assembly, all the chain links created by each class were assembled into one giant chain that has been hung as a reminder of how respect for one another, our school, ourselves, and the earth enable us to come together as a community of learners.
