Principal Update

December 17th, 2020

Dear DeSales Families,

Both the city and town of Lockport were put into a yellow zone designation this week. The school effective yellow zone start date is December 21st. Because of this designation, we are going to make our last half day before break, December 22nd, a remote learning day. Classroom and homeroom teachers will let you know how to check in for attendance that day and will be providing links to our Virtual Mass and Virtual Christmas Sing-Along as the assignments for the day.

We will then have two weeks to test 20% of our in-person students and staff on a volunteer-first basis. Once we have successfully tested the required number of staff and students, we will be able to continue in-person learning upon our return from Christmas break. I am currently working with both the Lockport City School District and an outside agency to secure testing opportunities for our school. As soon as the plans are finalized, I will send them out to you.

I appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate this pandemic. I wish you all a very blessed Christmas.

Take care,

Karen Rahill, Principal
