Thank you all for a wonderful year! Your support means so much for the success of our classroom. Your children are so special to me. I hope they've learned as much from me as I've learned from them this year. Thank you for sharing them with me on a daily basis. I have enjoyed getting to know each of them and your families this year!

Want to help your child get ready for 3rd grade over the summer?

Want to make sure your child doesn't suffer from the "summer slide?" Students often return to school in August forgetting some of the skills they learned the previous year. Make sure that doesn't happen to your child by helping them practice 2nd grade math over the summer. I've prepared a summer math packet that will be sent home next week. This is completely optional!!! Another helpful tool for review second grade math skills before 3rd grade is the math workbooks. There are many practice pages you can use!

This week we are previewing multiplication. Multiplication is a big part of 3rd grade math; therefore it is important for students to be fluent in their addition, subtraction AND multiplication facts. Although the multiplication will be taught in 3rd grade, you can get a head start over the summer since students are now familiar with it.

About Ms. Bettler

This is my second year at Gwin Oaks - and I LOVE it here! I am so greatful to be part of such a wonderful community.

My family means the world to me. We are all very close. We love going to Disney World - my brother and I are huge roller coaster junkies and nostalgic 20-somethings. We also love playing with our bichon frise puppy, Sophie. She is such a trouble maker! In June 2016 I'll add on an extension to the family when I marry my fiancee, David!

Music is a very important part of my life. I have been playing piano since I was six years old. I have also been involved in some sort of choir or band since fifth grade.

As a teacher, my goal is to make sure that students know how valuable they are! It's not about if a child is smart, but HOW a child is smart. I strive to help each child see their own potential to make a difference in this world and give them the tools to succeed.
