TRUE NORTH: SCN FOOTBALL VALUE SYSTEM

Moving into the 2023 season, I wanted to freshen up our Northstar Mentality. Ten years ago, our 2013 class developed the Iron Star Code. Each point on the 5-pointed star is recognized to represent one belief that our program will be built on. Each point on the star is equal to the one before it. The values of Leadership, Investment, Selflessness, Accountability, and Preparation make up our North Star. In the center of the completed stars lies the T.E.A.M. For the past ten seasons and every moment in between, we have remained consistent in our steadfast belief in these five values. They are our "True North". These beliefs will be our compass in all we do as a program on and off the field. Much like the Northstar in maritime days, we will use our "True North" as the compass we will follow in the journey to the elite.

For this reason, we will be renaming our Iron Star Code as the St. Charles North "True North" mentality. I am proud of these words and what they mean. I have seen them transform lives, including my own. I hope you can share in our "True North" words and discuss these values with your son or daughter as much as possible. These behaviors win, and belief must exist in our journey to the elite. As we say, championship behaviors preceded championships. We must commit ourselves to these habits until they become our rituals.

I am passionate about these ideologies. I have spent the past ten years working relentlessly to develop this program and the people who are a part of it. While teaching is my job, coaching is my calling. I want to make this program the best high school athletics program in Illinois. I do not say this to toot my own horn; I am sharing this with you to provide insight into what I envision this program can be. The bottom line is that this program is significant to me, as are all of you. I cannot wait to take on the journey of this coming season.

Message from Coach Pomazak

Stars Family,

Happy Father's Day! I hope your family is together and you have the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful weather. To all the Dad's out there, thank you for all you do for your children. I know there is no handbook on parenting, and we all try our best. Fatherhood and becoming a parent is the most incredible occupation in the world. Bringing another life into this world is a transcendent moment that changes you the second your child enters this world. I remember vividly when my daughters were born. It was a moment filled with joy, fear, and outright disbelief—every day after has been a learning experience. One thing that I have been told time and time again is to enjoy every moment because it goes fast. As my daughters approach their 10th birthday, I believe more valid words have never been spoken. In a blink of an eye, we go from being daddies to Dad. Enjoy today, and my best to all of the dads.

This past week was the beginning of our TEAM camp. The Stars did not disappoint and brought their best each day we stepped on the field. We had some weather on Tuesday, and it was true champions from our boys who did not miss a step and had great indoor practice. Wednesday was a special day as we spent the afternoon going through our True North Culture playbook. I am so proud to be associated with such a caring and compassionate group of students/athletes. The sky is truly the limit for this group. The end of the week saw our varsity go split squat and our sophs out on their own. It is never easy to split the kids up, but the opportunity for our players to build more minor connections amongst the bigger ones was not lost on the staff or players. The goal right now is to align our arrows and understand our mission, vision, and greater purpose. Our Stars took a significant step in building our culture this past week.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY

Happy Father's Day to all the dads and Grand Dads out there. A special nod to my dad. He has always been my biggest fan, and you can see him at the 50 every Friday night. As a boy, I wanted nothing because your love filled me up, and as a father, now I try to use your example as how I should treat and raise my children. I love you so much and am so glad we are now such good friends. But more importantly, you will always be my Dad!

Happy Father's Day to my Dad and all the Father's out there!

STARS GIVE BACK TO I9 JUNIOR STARS LEAGUE

Last Sunday, the Stars spent the day giving back to the Junior Stars Feeder Program. On a cold and rainy day, our kids spend 2 hours with all of the 7 teams. Working on practice drills and then cheering along side them during their game. Always proud of our kids for investing their time to be selfless!

CULTURE PLAYBOOK EVENT

On Wednesday, our Stars came together and spent the afternoon together. Our Culture Playbook event has become a staple of the SCN Football program. It is the first of many opportunities for our players to connect, have fun and, most importantly, be vulnerable with each other. It was a fantastic afternoon! Thanks Stars

With the start of the off-season strength program right around the corner, our Stars football players could use your help in supplying them with post-workout treats. Please review the list below and we will schedule weekly drops after the Thanksgiving holiday.

COVER 4 LEADER WANTED

We seek one or two eager leaders to take over the reins as our Cover 4 president. Lance Erickson has done a fantastic job setting this program up for success.
