SY22-23 Transfer Survey
CPS Parent Survey
Every year, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) invites key stakeholders to share their perspectives in the three important surveys: the 5Essentials Student Survey, the 5Essentials Teacher Survey, and the My Voice My School Parent Survey.
The annual My Voice My School Parent survey is an incredible opportunity for parents’/guardians’ important perspective to be heard. Parents and guardians of CPS students are invited to complete a survey about their child's school between April 1, 2022 and April 30, 2022. The survey takes about 5-10 minutes to complete, it is available in several languages, and it is completely anonymous. We appreciate all parents/guardians who take a few minutes to participate in the My Voice My School Parent Survey.

CPS Sexual Health Education Curriculum
This school year all students in PK-8th grade will receive Sexual Health Education as part of the CPS Sexual Health Education Policy. Click below to see the scope and sequence of the lessons for each grade level.
The Board acknowledges that parents/guardians are the primary sexuality educators for their child/children. LaSalle II is committed to partnering with you to provide supplementary instruction to students via the sexual health education lessons.
In alignment with Illinois law (“No pupil shall be required to take or participate in any class or course on AIDS or family life instruction if his parent or guardian submits written objection thereto, and refusal to take or participate in the course or program shall not be reason for suspension or expulsion of the pupil.” 105 ILCS 110/3), a parent/guardian must provide a timely written objection to opt their child/children out of participating in any CPS Sexual Health Education course. No student with a written parental objection will be suspended or expelled for refusal to participate in any such course. If you wish to have your child excused from participation, please inform Dr. Albani in writing.

April SEL Theme of the Month: GROWTH MINDSET!
Is there something you don’t think you are very good at? Maybe you’ve tried something before and not succeeded on your first try? Maybe you think something is hard and it makes you want to give up. If you have a growth mindset, you can overcome all of these obstacles! Having a growth mindset means that you look for opportunities to improve upon what you can already do. You DON’T have to be great at anything when you first start! Instead of feeling discouraged or defeated, learn from your experience and try again. Maybe next time you’ll be better!
Visit this month’s Bitmoji classroom for resources, videos, and books all about the importance of having a growth mindset, and how we can all cultivate having one everyday!
Volume City
This month the fifth graders were encouraged to explore the world of design, building, and architecture in our math class. They spent the week designing and constructing their own volume cities. They are learning about volume, area, and perimeter in math class and for this activity students had to design their own buildings using rectangular prisms and calculate the volume of each building. They also had to include green space and roads and find the perimeter and area of both. Each group named their cities and added their own impressive details. Watch out world I think we may have some future Architects at LaSalle II!
CVC Detectives!
Over the past few weeks in Room 102, we have been practicing decoding and reading CVC words. This week, our kindergarten and first grade students were CVC detectives! Students had to go around the classroom with their magnifying glasses and locate the words that were CVC (consonant vowel consonant) and which words were not. They had to work together as teams to build the word correctly, tap out the sounds using their decoding skills, and blend the sounds altogether. These great detectives were able to locate 5 CVC words in the classroom and were very proud of their hard detective work! Team building, collaborating, and turn taking are also skills we have been focusing on. Nice job, detectives!
