A Message from Principal Reed
Greetings Ramsey Families,
Thank you to all of our families who were able to attend our Eagle Fest Assemblies on January 26th to recognize the students who received academic and leadership awards. We are very proud of all of our students for the growth they are showing this year and appreciate your support at home to ensure your child is at school each day and ready to learn.
We look forward to seeing all of our families at our upcoming spring conferences on February 16, 21 and 23. Please sign up for your student led conference and/or review your scheduled time by visiting My Conference Time. This is a great opportunity to team with your student’s teachers to support your student's Wildly Important Goals in the core content areas.
We would also like to thank all of Franklin Elementary families and students who attended our Open House on January 25th to learn more about our school and meet our staff. We look forward to our upcoming opportunities for Franklin students to visit Ramsey this spring!
Sincerely,
Dr. Amy Reed
Principal

Leader In Me at Home
Supporting Organizational Skills at Home
Imagine a school morning where everyone knows what to do and is ready on time. Organization is a skill learned over time. By teaching organization at home, your student will learn this important skill. Modeling these skills will encourage your student to take responsibility for their own organization. Use these first three habits as a learning tool for you and your student:
HABIT 1: BE PROACTIVE
Habit 1 is about initiative and responsibility. Each night, help your student determine what they will need for the next day. To start, writing a list may be helpful.
HABIT 2: BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
Habit 2 is about visualizing how you would like something to turn out before it happens. If a smooth morning is the goal, brainstorm with your student how that will look and feel. Your student may actually have time to do something extra in the morning if they are organized, and you will all have a happy start to the day.
HABIT 3: PUT FIRST THINGS FIRST
Habit 3 means focusing on the task when there’s something else you would rather be doing—the hardest part of all! Help your student learn how to avoid distractions by reminding them that, if they stick to it, all the fun things can come right after! Once students know these habits and how to apply them, they can start tackling more difficult tasks independently. They will begin to feel self-confident and proud when they’re able to complete homework and other tasks by themselves.
Remember, it may take time to teach your student these skills. Sometimes, it will seem simpler just to do it for them. Using Habits 1–3 is a life skill that will benefit them their entire lives.

Phone, text or email message from AHlert system (for Anoka-Hennepin parents/guardians only).
District and school websites.
District and school social media pages (e.g. Facebook, Instagram and Twitter).
Media outlets including WCCO, KSTP, FOX 9, KARE 11, CCX Media, WCCO radio and Star Tribune newspaper.
