This Weeks Focus
Our end of the year Reading MAP tests will be next week. This assessment is used to help us drive instruction so it is very important that students show what they know! This week we will be setting goals and going over test taking strategies. Please encourage your child to do their very best and use grit when taking the test! We have been setting goals so be watching for them in your child's folder.
In ELA we will continue to work on our reading fluency and comprehension.
In math, students will use measuring tools to measure the length of objects.
In science, we will begin our study of Life Cycles. The students will identify different stages of an animal's life cycle, focusing on life cycles that start with an egg. Our chicken eggs should be hatching this week!
Don't forget students can work on Lexia at home. Students can login to Lexia through Clever. Contact your child's teacher if you need student's Clever login information.
-Please make sure students are bringing headphones to school each day!
-Please make sure you put your child's name on his/her jackets, hoodies, and water bottles

First grade will be going on a field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo on May 12th!
Please make sure you have turned in permission slips and money.
Students- $11Adults- $9
Here's a bit more info regarding chaperones for the zoo trip:
* Please let the teacher know the name of the person who will be chaperoning Write it on the permission slip, send it through Class Dojo, or send the teacher an email
* You will be responsible for a small group of students during the field trip around the zoo.
* Chaperones must bring a license to the school office to scan for the background check.
* No siblings permitted. For the safety, well-being, and fun of our students, we need chaperones to be able to focus on the students in their group.
* Zoo memberships cannot be used on that day.
* If you end up being unable to go at the last minute, no one else can go in your place for security reasons.
