Parent Teacher Conferences are upon the horizon. Please make sure you know your day and time to meet with teachers! They are on a tight schedule as they are working with many families. If you are unable to attend or are running late, you will need to reschedule with your child's teacher. Please email them directly for further assistance.
OCT 9-13: Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent Teacher Conferences will be held the week of October 9, 2023.
Just a reminder there will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, October 9th and shortened days the week October 9-13th, so please plan accordingly. We will have a modified bell schedule during the conference week. The bell schedule for that week will be as follows:
10/10-10/13 - EARLY RELEASE 1:25 PM (K-5)
10/10-10/13 - EARLY RELEASE AM TK: 10:45 / PM TK: 1:15
** Preschool** REGULAR schedule on Tuesday ,Thursday, & Friday.
All Parents: On 10/9, you will need to enter and exit school through the main gates.
Oct 13: Carlsbad Fire Department : Public Safety Open House
The City of Carlsbad Fire Department Fire & Life Safety Division is hosting a Public Safety Open House. On October 14, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM, families can explore the fascinating world of public safety and get an up-close look at the dedicated professionals who keep our community safe.
At the open house, families will have the opportunity to tour the Safety Training Center, meet
& interact with the brave women and men who serve as first responders in our community, witness live demonstrations of emergency response procedures, and have your questions answered by our experts!
We look forward to welcoming your students and their families to our Public Safety Open House. This event is a great opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the vital role our public safety professionals play in keeping our community secure.

Oct. 16-20th: National Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is coming up and this year's theme is, "Be Kind To Your Mind, Live Drug Free." Our Student Council has been busy planning the first spirit week of the year to align with Red Ribbon Week. All students are encouraged to dress up for each day's Red Ribbon Week aligned theme.
Oct. 16 MONDAY: “Put a Cap on Drugs” Hat Day
Oct. 17 TUESDAY: “Books Grow Your Mind” Favorite Book Character Day
Oct. 18 WEDNESDAY: “Drugs are Crazy” Crazy Hair Day
Oct. 19 THURSDAY: “Follow Your Dreams–Don’t Do Drugs” Dream Job Day
Oct. 20 FRIDAY: “Say BOO to Drugs!!” Wear Orange and Black
**Please note that students will be able to dress up in their Halloween costumes on 10/31.
OCT 15: Carnival Tickets 20% Off
Halloween Carnival wristbands and tickets will be 20% off through October 15th AND delivered to your child's classroom the week of Carnival! Oct 31: Last day to purchase Chromebook Insurance
Chromebook Insurance - Last Day to Purchase is October 31
San Marcos Unified School District is pleased to announce insurance coverage for district owned devices through School Device Coverage.
This program is optional but highly recommended by the district. The flier can be downloaded from this site in English and this site in Spanish.
Please note that the insurance will cover all accidental damages (including broken screens and water damage) loss and theft of the devices. There are unlimited claims, 0 deductible and full transferability to your loaner device if applicable.
Cost of optional insurance:
August 15, 2023 - August 14, 2024
Full Coverage $20
Full Coverage Plus Charger = $25
If students do not have the insurance, the district could charge fines for the damages up to the replacement cost. Some common fines for damages are:
Broken Screens = $35
Broken Keyboards = $43
Broken Camera = $20
Full device replacement = $300
City Of Carlsbad: Upcoming bike and e-bike safety classes
Walk & Bike to School
The Carlsbad Police Department will present safety classes on three upcoming Saturdays, including Oct. 7, Nov. 4 and Dec. 9. At this time, the classes are only open to students at schools in Carlsbad. Space is limited, so make sure to sign up in advance at carlsbadca.gov/signup.
