Long Lake CSD Fall Newsletter
October 17, 2022
Dear LLCS School Community,
We have reached the five week mark of the first quarter, which is an important mile marker in the school year. Our school year consists of four quarters that are ten weeks apiece, and at each five week mark we have an opportunity to reflect on what we've accomplished, challenges we've experienced, and think about adjustments we can make to learn and grow. For sports fans, it's a lot like halftime. We are proud of all we've accomplished in the past five weeks and how much our students have already grown, and we're looking forward to another positive and productive five weeks ahead.
Two district wide instructional changes we're excited about is the implementation of our new K-6 math program - Eureka Math - Great Minds, and upgrading our classroom technology to interactive display boards. Our K-12 math program worked together to research math programs and as a team selected Eureka. Our teachers have worked together to learn the program and are excited about the changes it has brought to their lessons and student learning opportunities. We utilized our State Reserve Funds to purchase Promethean Boards for all classrooms, which has created a unified tech approach across grade levels and subject areas as well as an advanced experience for our teachers and students. It has been neat to see the discoveries and teamwork these devices have already prompted.
We are happy to welcome new staff members to our team this school year. Each person brings a wide array of professional experiences and we are grateful to have them jump right in and have immediate impact in our small school.
Please join me in welcoming the following staff members to our team:
Mrs. Donna Furlong, 3-6 Math Teacher
Mrs. Liz Hosley, District Treasurer
Mr. Kevin Willette, Bus Driver
Mrs. Nikki Wonders, School Psychologist
Our next mile-marker will be the end of the first quarter, when we'll welcome parents & guardians in for Parent-Teacher Conferences on November 17, 2022. These will be in-person conferences with a virtual option by request. All K-6 students will have a conference scheduled with their classroom teacher, all 7 & 8th grade students will have at least two conferences scheduled, with additional conferences available by parent or teacher request, and all 9-12 grade conferences will be based on parent and teacher request. Stay tuned for more information from the Guidance and Main Offices on scheduling conferences.
We appreciate your continued support. Thanks for all you do to help us be at our best.
Sincerely,
Ms. Noelle Short
