Linkit! Reflection Assessment Results with Students

Now that we have finished our Winter Linkit! Benchmarking, I would recommend conferencing with specific students that may benefit from this practice. Not only is this meaningful for metacongnition development, it also allows your students to goal-set by celebrating strengths and reviewing areas for improvement.

  1. Login to Linkit!
  2. Click on Reporting Tab at the top.
  3. Drag and Drop Winter Benchmark (Reading/Math)
  4. Click on class
  5. Click on Students tab,
  6. Click on Print icon (top right-hand side of screen window)
  7. Click on Print One Students per Page
  8. Choose Select All or specific students
  9. Click on Print

January 25th In-Service

Teaching Staff: 1/2 day Curriculum Content, 1/2 day report card/grades

TA's & PCA's: The day will start at Central Middle School at 8:00 AM.

Agenda is forthcoming for both groups.

Reading Referral Reminder

In an effort to save you time on paperwork, we will use the new referrals ONLY for students who will newly qualify for support based on the January data. These do not need to be submitted until AFTER grade level data meetings. We will discuss this further at grade level data meetings, and you will receive the reading referral forms at the meeting.

Muddy Clothes during Recess

It has been brought to my attention that the number of students who fall in the mud during recess is growing. Please be advised that you should no longer be sending students down to the nurse’s office for extra clothes/unless it is extreme (use your professional judgement). We do not have a supply of extra items. In addition, it is difficult for Cindy/Mary to address these types of issue due to the number of medical needs during this time. Communicate this information with your students before they go out today for recess.

We will be sending out a Blackboard Connect message to recommend packing additional pants/bottoms for incidents such as these. Students then can change into clean clothes using your classroom bathroom.

New Cafeteria Incentives!

Please know that we are starting a new reward program beginning January 26th in the Cafeteria. I will have coupons in my office that can be pre-purchased for .55 and can be used for rewarding students for good behavior or for birthday treats. These coupons are valued only at the amount of .55 and can be used to obtain an ala cart snack item . . . such as chips, popsicles, etc. We will help them determine what qualifies for the coupon. Please stop by the Cafeteria in the morning or during the serving times (until 12:45) to purchase your reward coupons. I will only be able to accept cash.

Thank you, Stephanie

Seylar Stars VS. Harlem Wizards

On Sunday, February 28th at 5:30pm the Seylar Faculty will be playing Harlem Wizards at South Middle School. In order to properly advertise and market, we need to develop our team and cheering squad. In addition, all staff members will be able to pre-order tickets which are due Tuesday, January 19th (Yellow Form).

Tina and I will be contacting you to determine how you would like to participate. I'm looking forward to having a great turnout from our staff since the monies that are collected for this event are given back to our classrooms and the students we serve.

Please consider volunteering for the following:

  • Play in the game
  • Cheer for our team
  • Help at event

Penny Wars Help!

Please encourage your students to bring in pennies and nickels to school this month. The money that is raised will be used to purchase additional recess equipment.

"Personalizing Education"

Education is a very personal thing. We at Seylar believe that every child has the right to achieve their highest potential and for them to be inspired, to dream, to be excited, and to have pride within themselves and for their school community. Our mission is to combine these beliefs with your child’s innate passions and love for learning to bring together a mind’s on approach, where students are engaged, challenged, and supported so they can achieve their personal best.
