Lend A Helping Paw! See Our Bake Sale

Some of our Upper School students are holding a bake sale on Thursday, September 21 to help PACC (Pima Animal Care Center)! PACC is a local animal shelter that takes in surrendered and stray dogs and cats, gives free pet vaccinations, and much more. All the proceeds from this bake sale will go towards direct funding of PACC, help make blankets and toys, or purchase items like food and kitty litter. We will have cake, cookies, and caramel for a dollar or less to enjoy before the talent show. See us at the Lower School Campus before school!

Empty Lot Committee

We are looking for a small committee of people to come together to help us decide what the school community would like to see in the empty lot just west of the Upper School. If you are interested in being a part of this committee, please email BJ Madsen at

Volunteers Needed: Junior Achievement

Civano Community School is again partnering with Junior Achievement this year to provide the JA Days educational enrichment program to our students. This exciting educational event uses our parents as volunteers to lead fun, interactive sessions that connect the classroom to the world of work, by teaching our students about money, decision making, businesses and careers.

We are looking for two volunteers for each classroom for our JA Days on Wednesday, October 25th and Thursday, October 26th from 8:30am-12:00pm, each day. The program will be divided in to two half days. Volunteers are asked to commit to both dates.

Our volunteer orientation will be held at our school on Wednesday October 18th at 3:00pm. JA will supply all of the materials and training; our parent volunteers will share their time, experience and insight to help our students build their futures!

As a parent, you are already aware of the great impact an adult can have on the life of a child. We invite you to help make an impact on our community’s future by volunteering with us at our Civano Community School JA Days. You can learn more about the JA program by going to the link below.

Please contact BJ ( if you are interested in volunteering with us at this exciting educational event.

K-8 Talent Show:

Our first talent show of the year is coming up this Thursday, September 21st at 9:00 am. All students are welcome to participate and all families are welcome to come. Your child will need to have a plan of what they want to do and show it to their teacher a few days prior to the show. Students may do one solo act and one act in a group. All acts should be about 2 minutes or less. Students will need to provide any music or props themselves. Questions? Check in with any classroom teacher.

CivanoArts 2017/18 Update:

Art and drama are off to a strong start! There is already an exhibit of this year’s upper school artwork at Miller Golf Links Library and Miss Mika is back on campus getting things rolling with drama. Thank you, Civano families, for funding all of this creativity!

Donors have pledged a total of $8,090 as of September 13. Wow! We still have some work to do to reach our goal of $20,000 but we are in great shape compared to this time last year. Many families make a mid-school-year gift, especially at the close of the tax year. We’re going to stop the nagging for now but remember that pledges are accepted all year long. We’ll check in again just before 2017 comes to a close!

You can download a pledge form anytime from the school website:
