Weekly Staff Letter
April 28th - May 1st
End of Year Cleanout
As you know, we have been given a certain amount of time to clean out GVHS. If you have student belongings in your room, we will have to bag and tag them and take them to the GVHS office labeled with the student's name in anticipation of parent pickup. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to collect any personal belongings you need and close out your classrooms for the school year. Only six (6) total teachers/paras can be in the building at one time, and we can only be in 1 quadrant of the building at once - please practice social distancing. Also, as a reminder, we cannot allow children in the building at all, unless they are coming on Friday to retrieve items from the athletic lockers one at a time. We have to limit foot traffic and stay within the guidelines. We have to work our way out of the building to the main entrance in a specific order. We have divided GVHS into 5 quadrants:
North End will be scheduled on Wednesday morning. (Larsen, Arthur, Doyle, Holm, Manickam)
West academic quadrant will be scheduled on Wednesday afternoon. (McGruder, Jansen, Reynolds, Hadley)
East academic/specials quadrant will be scheduled on Thursday morning. (Valdez, B. Johnson, Teter, Lana, Parker)
Specials area will be scheduled on Thursday afternoon. (Bulik, Medina, Shultz, Rhinaman, Berner)
South End and Office area will be scheduled on Friday morning. (Bickert, M. Johnson, Abbey, Mayfield)
Athletic/Gym Lockers for students will be scheduled on Friday afternoon. (Students, Walck, McCormick)
For staff who are leaving us and need to clean out their rooms, We understand you may need more time than people who are staying. We can be flexible with timing, however, we have to clear each scheduled quadrant within a day’s time from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. It was suggested that we give everyone a 2-hour slot to complete their room cleanout. However, if we keep it to 6 teachers/paras we can bump it to 4 hours if you need it. Lastly, if you are scheduled to clean when it is your normal online class or advisory time, please let your kids know that you will not be there and plan accordingly.
For now, our only goals are to:
Collect student belongings, bag and tag them and take to the office for parent pickup. (Only if you have student items and you know who they belong to.)
Collect personal belongings that you absolutely need right now
Prep rooms for deep cleaning by custodial staff
Make sure bulletin boards in halls and rooms are cleaned off
Everything must be off the floor and posters must come off the walls as we need to wash the walls/disinfect the entire room.
Computer and tech
If you have anything on your Desktop - you need to move it into Google Drive
Desktops will be wiped over the summer, so move it or lose it
If you have any programs installed, you need to make a list and get it to Nathan
if you can reinstall them yourselves you do not need to let Nathan know
All technology unplugged. Tech department will take care of them sometime over the summer.
Stack student chairs and push desks into a corner
All cabinets cleaned off and stuff placed neatly inside
(Our custodians will be available to help out in any way that you may need)
I know what some of us are thinking, there is no way we can do this in that amount of time! We get it. . . . . but we know if any staff can do it - IT’S GVHS!!!
(We just placed everyone in there as place holders to check on timing. You may not need the whole time.)
