Montgomery Bus Boycott
Civil Rights Movement
What is the Montgomery Bus Boycott?
The Montgomery Bus Boycott started on December 5th, 1955 this was the day all African Americans of Alabama decided to boycott the public bus station.
This is considered a large part of the Civil Rights movement because its is one example of how non-violent protest could be successful.
Out come of the Montgomery Bus Boycott.
During the Montgomery Bus Boycott the Supreme Court decided that Alabama laws were unconstitutional and desegregation laws were put in play for the buses.
Problems did occur during the Bus Boycott such as, being harassed by KKK members and other White Citizens Council members.
How is the Bus Boycott important now?
The bus boycott is important now because without it maybe most southern states would not be integrated with the bus system, school system etc.,
My personal Opion
I think that the bus boycott is a positive movement in the Civil Rights movement because it showed a peaceful way to protest and it shows that it is successful with out violence. I am also pleased to see that because of this movement and many others we are now a non segregated country.
