- What qualifies for new teacher PD and how do I record my hours in order to meet legislative requirements?
- Where do I find free synchronous and asynchronous professional learning to help meet the New Teacher PD requirements and improve my practice?
- What are Michigan’s requirements for moving from a provisional teaching certificate to a professional or standard certificate? How do I renew my teaching certificate?
- What are the requirements under Michigan's Educator Evaluation Law?
- What goals should I include in my IDP to improve my professional practice and students’ learning?
This session is open to all PreK-12th-grade educators who teach in MARESA schools.
DAY 2: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10th, 2022
Research has shown that effective teachers handle discipline problems no differently than ineffective teachers. What makes teachers effective is how they manage their classrooms BEFORE misbehavior occurs.
This second day of professional learning will focus on proactive, positive, and instructional approaches to structuring classrooms, teaching behavioral expectations, and responding to student behavior. Teachers will have the opportunity to "observe & reflect" in classrooms of master teachers and engage in a collaborative learning community.
Together we will explore:
- Why is continuing to build relationships with students so essential to teaching and learning?
- What are the 5 variables that teachers can manipulate to improve the learning environment for all students?
- What is MTSS? How does MTSS relate to behavior?
- What are effective strategies for correcting students calmly after a behavior occurs?
- Why is Teach-Monitor-Feedback so important?
- How do high structure and teaching expectations improve the positive learning environment in classrooms?
This session is open to all PreK-12th-grade educators who teach in MARESA schools.
