The Pay It Forward Club at EHS visited the Veteran’s Nursing Home Saturday, November 4th to honor these men for their service to our country. They brought them baked goods and visited for a few hours while listening to the band they had for them.
GLENDALE ELEMENTARY
Ms. Manuel’s 1st-grade class did a lesson on pumpkins and gourds. The students got to feel the different types of gourds and wrote about what they learned. Students also got to paint pumpkins.

Students were recognized as Tigers of the month for most improved and outstanding behavior and academics. Students received a certificate, a free dress pass and a ticket to the New Orleans Pelicans basketball game. Students were excited to be greeted by the school’s mascot.
HIGHLAND ELEMENTARY
Highland Elementary had a flag retirement/raising on Friday, November 3rd. Mr. David Cradeur (our custodian) is a veteran and he was responsible for getting the veterans to have a ceremony this morning.

Leonville Elementary faculty & staff dressed as Emojis, M&M and Crayons for Halloween.
Students in Ms. Theriot’s 7th and 8th grade were given instructions to build a structure that could hold as many textbooks as possible for a minimum of 1 minute. They were only allowed 8 1inch wide strips of paper and 6 inches of tape to build their structure. The group with the strongest/most stable structure was a group of eighth graders who built a structure that held 37 textbooks (approximately 185 lbs).

NORTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL
On Friday, November 3rd, Northwest High awarded students that earned all A's on their report cards for the entire 2016 -2017 school year with Academic Letterman Jackets. Students, who had already earned and received the Academic Letterman Jackets in past school years, received Academic Letterman Patches to place on their jackets.

We had a great turnout for our very first Veteran’s Day program. After the program, Veterans were treated to refreshments.
Lunch with Kings and Queens is held for those students who make a 4.0. The students wear crowns and eat and drink from fancy dishes.
Students who met PBIS expectations for the 1st quarter were treated to a pizza party.
Tia Rideau is our 5th grade Student of the Year.

Third and fourth grade 21st Century students conducted a Walking Water Experiment
Ms. Butler’s first-grade science students working on force and motion.
Third graders are learning how to divide through sharing. The students read the book The Doorbell Rang and shared the cookies in equal groups. They also worked in collaborative groups to solve division word problems.
SUNSET ELEMENTARY
A Panther of the Month breakfast was held at Sunset Middle School for students who exhibit Panther Pride, good behavior, and good citizenship. Special guests were in attendance to congratulate students for their achievements - Charles James, Mayor of the Town of Sunset, Heath Treadway, Assistant Chief of Police, and Luis Padilla, Chief of Police.
