Lunch Balances

Please check lunch balances in your PowerSchool account or ask your child. Many are low or negative. Students are not allowed to purchased a la cart items or super lunches if there is not a positive balance. Remember, lunch is not free this year and is $2.90 per lunch.

Upcoming Retreats

FRESHMAN RETREAT: Wednesday, October 19 at Camp Tekawitha, a camp/ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay.


JUNIOR RETREAT: Thursday, October 20 at Holy HIll, one of Wisconsin’s most popular religious shrines.


INFORMATION FOR BOTH RETREATS:

Please meet in the commons at 7:50am to load the buses. The return time is 2:50pm. Fr. Mark and Mr. Rudd will lead both retreats. Dress is casual, but please dress according to the weather. Students may pack their own lunch or order a bag lunch from the food service. Students were sent the link for the lunch order, which is due by Friday, October 14.

All Aboard!

If you haven’t already purchased your tickets for ALL ABOARD 2022, the time is now! Registration is about to close for this exciting evening of food, drink, live entertainment and friendship held on the campus of St. Mary Catholic Middle School. Proceeds from this event benefit all five campuses of SMCS. To purchase tickets click here. If you’d like to attend for free, you can sign up to volunteer.

STUDENTS--We are still looking for help with All Aboard this weekend. Please email Mr. Decker and let him know you can help! You will earn service hours for your help.

Attendance--Appointments

Please let the school office know prior to the school day if your child has an appointment so a pass can be issued before school. Last minute notifications are difficult and interruptive to class. If possible, please make appointments before or after school or on school days off.

Volleyball – Big East Red Division Conference Champions

Boys Soccer – 4th in Big East Conference

Cross Country – TBD this Saturday at Conference Meet


GIRLS TENNIS

The Tennis team finished 3rd overall in sub-sectional play. Adel Schneider, Kassadi Calmes, Olivia Bergstrom, Eva Schneider, Emily Vogal and Chloe Vogel advanced to Sectionals. The team finished in 5th place at Sectionals, played in Kohler on October 5. Adel Schneider qualified for state in singles and Olivia Bergstrom/Eva Schneider qualified for state in doubles.


The WIAA State Individual Girls Tennis tournament begins on Thursday, October 13 in Madison. Adel plays at 6:30pm and Olivia/Eva play at 7:30pm. There will be a state sendoff on Thursday at 9:50am in the High School Commons. All are welcome to attend. WIAA Individual State Girls Tennis Tournament


FOOTBALL

The football game scheduled for Friday, October 14 at Williams Bay has been cancelled due to injuries on the opposing team. We are hoping to find a replacement game. The final game of the season is at home on Friday, October 21 against Wisconsin Heights High School. SMC is not eligible for eight player football playoffs because our school enrollment is over 200.


VOLLEYBALL

The Volleyball team seeding meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 12. The bracket will be released after that meeting. WIAA Girls Volleyball Division 3 Playoff Bracket


BOYS SOCCER

The Soccer team received the 6th Seed in their sectional bracket and will play Clintonville on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00pm in the Regional Semi- Final at St. Mary Catholic High School. WIAA Boys Soccer Division 4 Playoff Bracket


CROSS COUNTRY

The Cross Country team will compete on Saturday, October 22 in the WIAA Sectional Meet at Standing Rocks Park. The girls race begins at 11:00am and the boys race begins at 12:10pm. WIAA Cross Country Tournament


WIAA sets the ticketing policy for WIAA playoffs. Conference passes cannot be accepted and tickets must be pre-purchased. Compeitions will not be webcasted for WIAA home playoff games because they do not have limits on attendance and because the WIAA charges schools to webcast events.

Last Home Football Game--Stadium Walkways

Friday, October 21 is our last home football game of the season. We encourage parents and other adult guests to use the BACK of the stadium for entrance into and exiting the stadium. This will eliminate some of the congestion with the student section on the North stairway. Thank you!

All School Service Day

On Friday, October 7, our students completed over 800 hours of service our school, our parishes and our community. Some of the service tasks at school included helping with 8th and 5th grade visit days, helping with theatre tasks, decorating for homecoming and cleaning the stadium. Many other students lent a helping hand to our parishes and in our community. We are proud of the serivce our students provided!

Counselor Meetings--Freshmen

Freshmen: Counselors will meet with freshman next week in social studies classes for academic and career planning lessons. Counselors will also be holding Individual Planning Conferences with each freshman and his/her parents October and November. Please watch for an email from Mrs. Hall with sign up information. Parents may join virtually or in person.

ACT Test Prep

ACT Test Prep Services, LLC offers a 4-day intensive class that includes one full-length practice exam with scoring, instruction in each test domain by certified teachers and additional review materials, practice tests, sample solutions and Q&A for each domain. All classes run from 4:00-7:25pm. Cost is $130 for class & materials/$155 for class with essay evaluation. Students must register here 2 weeks prior to each class date. Hands-On Skilled Careers Open House featuring Manufacturing, Agriculture, Transportation and Energy--November 8, 4:00-7:00 PM, NWTC Building Construction Center. Registration is no required. Park in lot A, enter in Door 12

Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Info Night

Current students in grades 10-12 interested in learning about the amazing and unique benefits that Youth Apprenticeship can offer should attend the YA Informational Webinar on October 19 from 5:30-6:00 PM. Register here. A recording will be sent if unable to attend.

Understanding the Financial Aid Process

Ripon College will be hosting two Financial Aid Nights. The in-person event will be held on Wednesday, October 19 from 6-7:15 pm. Campus tours will be offered so please register soon. A Virtual Financial Aid Night will be held on Tuesday November 8 from 6-6:45pm. For those who do not attend either event, they have provided a video series for families beginning the FAFSA process:

Lab Discovery Nights

Concordia University Wisconsin School of Pharmacy is hosting a Lab Discovery Night on Thursday, November 17 from 6pm-7:30pm. These free lab nights provide hands-on experience in their pharmacy lab for high school students considering science, healthcare, or pharmacy majors. Register here.

AP Exams

AP exam registration for yearlong courses will take place in the fall. Test order forms will be distributed by AP teachers during classes in October. Testing fees are $97 per test. Tests for AP classes which begin in the Spring will be ordered in the Spring. Watch for details.
