Lenski Weekly Update

December 9, 2022

From the Principal's Desk

What a fun week we had! We welcomed many incoming Kindergarten families to tour Lenski, our 5th Graders did a marvelous job at their performance yesterday, and our Donuts with Grownups breakfast this morning was a blast! Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to complete our Climate, Safety, and Wellness survey. We’ve had about 50 parents complete the survey so far. We’d love to hear more from you. You can access the survey here. We value your feedback and input! Thank you for taking a moment to complete this survey for us.

Enjoy the weekend!

With Lenski Love,

Jessica

From the Office

Our SACC Superstars program is growing! We are grateful to have been able to hire additional afternoon caretakers to make this possible. Please know that when we exceed 30 students, we are required to use both of our playgrounds. Due to our licensing, this means that students and families not enrolled in SACC will be asked to leave the playgrounds during these times. We invite you to use the South Suburban playground on the north side of the intermediate playground, and appreciate your cooperation and understanding!

From the Counselor

This week in community circles students are sharing about thoughtful actions that they have done for others to show their generosity. The students are sharing wonderful actions! We have so many amazing and kind kids at Lenski!

Small Counseling Groups at Lenski:

As counselors we offer small groups to support the social and emotional needs of the students. We are starting new groups in January. If you think your child would benefit from one of these small groups, please reach out to Shannon Ritchey (sritchey@lps.k12.co.us) or Amy Nixon (anixon@lps.k12.co.us). Some of the groups we offer are:

  • Family Changes (Divorce, Separation) - for students going through any type of change to the family structure, past or present

  • Emotion Regulation / Coping Skills - for students with difficulty handling strong emotions of any kind

  • Grief/Loss - for students who have experienced a death or loss, currently or in the past

  • Friendship Skills /Social Skills - for students to work on positive relationship skills and build friendships

  • Anxiety - for students who show or express worries/anxiety

  • And others as needed!

Sock It To 'Em

Annual Sock Drive

Welcome to the 4th Annual Lenski Sock Drive!

November 28th - Dec 16th

Did you know socks are the number one clothing need for people experiencing homelessness?

Lenski is excited to partner with Sock It To 'Em, a local charity dedicated to serving the homeless. Our drive will benefit several Denver Metro organizations that serve our community.

Our goal this year is to collect 5,000 pairs of socks!

Please bring in NEW socks for men, women, and children. There is currently a high need for men's socks. Drop off donated socks in your classroom.

Let's make a social impact one pair of socks at a time!
