Michael Phelps was a great swimmer. He started swimming when he was 7. He was 12 when he started swimming in the olympics. He became the youngest world record holder at age 15. In a mens swimming competition he posted 1 minute and 52.49 seconds. He won 18 gold medals and 22 in all.

Michael Phelps grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. His parents were Fred and Debbie Phelps. He had two older sisters named Whitney and Hilary. When he was growing up at age 7 he was a little afraid to put his face in the water until he had his parents support.
