Being on Time Matters
Kids Heart Challenge
Stowe Physical Education classes will be participating in the Kids Heart Challenge, In class we will learn important steps on how to keep our hearts healthy. Students are encouraged to help others by sharing what they learn with family and friends to improve their heart health. Students can also raise donations for the American Heart Association in envelopes that were sent home earlier this week. (this is of course an optional activity and not required)
Deadline for American Heart Association donations is January 28, 2022.
Peacemaker Awards
A Peacemaker is someone who is sought to teach, to transform, to make friends, to heal, to defeat injustice, or to choose love over hate. --Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Cold Weather / Delays / Closures ...
How do I find out if school is cancelled due to weather?
The decision to close or delay the start of school due to severe winter weather is made prior to 6AM.
Unless you hear an announcement over local TV and radio stations that schools are closed or delayed, you can assume that school will be in session as scheduled.
- All families should have a contingency plan for their children in the event of weather-related school closings or a 2-hour late start.
- When weather causes a 2-hour late start, this is for students AND school staff. Do not send your child to school before 9:30am if there is a 2-hour late start. There is no staffing to supervise prior to 9:30am.
Recess and Crossing Guard cold weather criteria
- There will be inside recess and no crossing guards when the wind chills or actual temperatures are colder than -17 degrees.
- Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Students do great outside during their 20-25 minute recess but they need to be dressed for it!

Through our Winter Reading Program, every student who reads 10 hours wins a free book of their choice! We hope our Winter Reading Program will motivate students to read and encourage them to visit the public library.
The Duluth Public Library is open over Winter Break and February Break – for books, free entertainment, and a safe space to hang out.
