Principal's Message
Dear Families and Students,
I hope we had another successful week! As our month begins to come to a close we want to remind and share with a few important/exciting items!
First I would like to congratulate our Middle School Soccer Team on their win over Legends Academy this past Monday! Their next home game will be next Wednesday, September 26th against Crown Point at the Technology Campus field. Come out and support your Orcas!

We wish both of them the best of luck in being chosen for this highly-advanced ensemble.
This past Monday, Orlando Science Schools celebrated "Constitution Day". This year, many of our students participated in a Constitution Day poster competition, where they artistically demonstrated their knowledge of the themes and goals of the U.S. Constitution. In this week's newsletter, you will be able to find a few of their amazing posters.
From September 15th- October 15th, 2018 Orlando Science Schools are pleased to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month! We invite all of our Orlando Science Middle High families to join us on October 5th for our Annual Hispanic Heritage Night. Details may be found in this week's newsletter on this fantastic event!

Lynx Lane Campus Celebrates American Founders' Month
The Month of September 2018 will mark the first annual observance of "American Founders". American Founders' month offers the opportunity for students to participate in activities related to the nation's founding fathers, who were instrumental in crafting historical documents that provide for individual liberty and representative government.
In each of our September Newsletters, we will feature one or two of our seven founding fathers, be sure to check back each week to learn more information.
James Madison
"An advocate for a strong federal government, the Virginia-born Madison composed the first drafts of the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights and earned the nickname “Father of the Constitution.” In 1792, Madison and Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) founded the Democratic-Republican Party, which has been called America’s first opposition political party."
James Madison passed away on June 28th, 1836 at Montpelier. For more information on James Madison please visit https://www.history.com/topics/us-presidents/james-madison .
John Jay
"Of all the Founding Fathers, no other filled so many high offices. John Jay served the State of New York as a principal author of its first constitution in 1777, and as its first Chief Justice. He served the nation as President of the Second Continental Congress, Minister Plenipotentiary to Spain during the Revolutionary War, and Secretary for Foreign Affairs under the Articles of Confederation. He was author and key negotiator, with Benjamin Franklin and John Adams, of the Treaty of Paris, which ended the American Revolution. With Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, he wrote the Federalist Papers, arguing for adoption of the United States Constitution. After the ratification of the Constitution, President Washington appointed Jay the first Chief Justice of the United States"
John Jay passed away in 1829, for more information on John Jay please visit http://johnjayhomestead.org/about-john-jay/the-life-of-john-jay/
OSS Celebrates Constitution Day
Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787. The law establishing the present holiday was passed in 2004, mandating all publicly funded institutions to provide educational information related to the signing of the U.S. Constitution. This year, many of our students participated in a Constitution Day poster competition, where they artistically demonstrated their knowledge of the themes and goals of the U.S. Constitution. Top submissions will be entered in the Constitution Facts- Constitution Day Poster Contest. Keep an eye out for student work posted around campus!
