Graduation, Cap & Gown ordering information available now

Class of 2022 Parents & Students:

While the school year looks different, there are still many important details that cannot be overlooked as we work through this challenging time. One of those major details is planning for commencement and making sure our seniors have everything they need to celebrate and be honored. Traditionally, our partner Mark Flueckiger with Jostens would have a class assembly with our Seniors to explain the graduation order process and distribute order materials at that time. Due to social distancing guidelines, we are not able to host a class assembly and as such, Jostens had made the adjustment to send communications digitally.

IMPORTANT Please pick up your senior packet at the front office (available now during school hours). The packet contains a catalog and order forms.

You received an informational email containing video explanations of the graduation product offering, most importantly being your Cap & Gown for commencement. That email was sent on Tuesday, Oct. 12. Please keep an eye out in your inbox and open it for complete details on the graduation products.

Jostens will be collecting senior orders at school on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and Wednesday, Oct. 20, during lunch. A $60 deposit is required (or payment in full if less than $60). These the only days Jostens will be at school.

If you miss one of these order days, you will need to place your order online or by phone at 1-800-JOSTENS (567-8367) no later than Sunday, Oct. 31. It is extremely important to have your order submitted by this date. With unexpected industry delays, we want to make sure our partners have plenty of time to produce and prepare our senior orders.

If you have any questions, please call the Jostens office at 1-800-JOSTENS or email at flueckigeroffice@jostens.com.

Senior Graduation Packets are now available in the Main Office. Information includes how to order a cap and gown, announcements, etc.

Students/parents/guardians can also click here or order cap & gown and graduation materials, or scan the QR code posted above.

Click here for a video on ordering graduation materials from Jostens on Tuesday, Oct. 19, and Wednesday, Oct. 20.

DVT/Planetarium will show "Oasis in Space" and "Origins of Life" on Wednesday, Oct. 20

The PHM DVT/Planetarium will be showing OASIS IN SPACE & ORIGINS OF LIFE on Wednesday, October 20th at 6:30 p.m.

Yes, this is a TWO for ONE showing! Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens and can be pre-ordered by visiting the DVT webpage on the PHM Schools website, or they can be purchased at the door with cash, check, or card 30 minutes before the show starts. The DVT is located inside Bittersweet Elementary.

In Oasis, we embark on a startling and beautiful voyage through our Universe, Galaxy and Solar System in search of water, which is the key ingredient for life on Earth. Oasis in Space offers a new perspective on a substance of obvious importance to our planet.

Origins of Life deals with some of the most profound questions of life science: the origins of life and the human search for life beyond Earth. Starting with the Big Bang, in chronological order, the show deals with the prebiotic chemistry in the Universe, the formation of stars, formation of solar systems, and the first life on Earth. Furthermore, Origins of Life covers the great extinctions as well as our search for (primitive) life beyond planet Earth. Origins of Life is an inspirational journey through time and a celebration of life on Earth.

Help build a bright future as a P-H-M employee

Parents, guardians, grandparents and community members can help build a bright future as an employee of the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corporation.

Become a Penn Booster !!!!

We truly appreciate your dedication and support of Penn High School. The Penn Booster's main function is to enhance the overall educational experience for the students here at PHS, and we couldn’t do it without you. The Boosters provides resources for our PHS athletic and student groups through various fundraising efforts, including events, sponsorships, donations, concession stand income, and most importantly through our memberships.

Memberships are $10 a year and are open to anyone interested in supporting Penn. Becoming a Booster Member does not mean you have to be on the Booster Board. You can be a representative for your respective athletic or academic team and be the liaison to the Board, or you can just support the Booster program by becoming a member with your $10 donation.

We are also excited to have launched our new Booster website. Please visit us at http://www.pennboosters.org as we continue to connect with the PHM community.

If you are interested in sharing your gifts or talents with the Boosters, we would very much enjoy finding an opportunity for you to do that. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I look forward to the opportunity to meet you and talk about how you can help our group continue to provide the “Gold Standard” that we are accustomed to here at Penn.

21-22 Booster Membership Form

Work Permits no longer required

The State of Indiana is creating an Employer Registration system for any employer that employs five (5) or more minors.

Effective 7/1/2021, Indiana will no longer require work permits for minor employees. Employers will no longer be required to complete the “Intent to Employ” form, and schools will no longer issue work permits.

Employers will be responsible for maintaining an accurate list of all minor employees. If an employer has four (4) or fewer minor employees, registration will not be required. This registration does not have any impact on the work hour requirements for minors. All employers must still comply with the Teen Work Hour Restrictions.

Student Lunch Delivery Policy

If a student forgets their lunch, only a lunch from home will be able to be dropped off at Penn. In order to support P-H-M’s Wellness Guidelines, we ask that food from outside vendors not be dropped off at school. Services such as Door Dash, Uber Eats or Grub Hub are not permitted on campus.

Penn Republican Club honors Italian-American Republicans

1. Paul Celluci was known as "the Bridgemaker". A long political career culminated in his election to the governorship of the state of Massachusetts and his appointment as U.S. Ambassador to Canada. Mr. Celluci served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1970 to 1978 and was Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts from 1991 to 1997. In 1998, he was elected governor. Celluci was known for his ability to work in a very bi-partisan manner, and he had to. A fiscal conservative who understood the evils of high taxes, he still had to work with a largely Democratic legislature. The Cato Institute, a conservative think tank, gave Celluci the distinction of having the best record of reducing taxes and restraining government spending amongst all U.S. governors during the years in which he served as the chief executive of the state of Massachusetts. Celluci was also known for appointing several women to important government positions, including Margaret H. Marshall as Chief Justice of the Massachusetts Supreme Court.

2. Mike Pompeo - Mr. Pompeo was born in Orange, California, and began his adult career as an officer in the United States Army. He was a tank platoon leader and attained the rank of captain. Upon leaving the military, he and a group of his former fellow officers bought into the ownership of three different aircraft parts manufacturers. After a successful business career, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 2011 and represented Kansas's Fourth Congressional District until 2017. From 2017 to 2018 he was director of the CIA and then served as Secretary of State from 2018 to 2021 under President Donald Trump. During his tenure as Secretary of State, he was instrumental in formulating foreign policy that ended the Iran Nuclear Deal, pressured European allies to pay their share of NATO expenses, and led to the destruction of ISIS in Syria and Iraq.
