MCAA Rocket Report
October 14
A Note From the Principal
Greetings MCAA Families,
WOW! What a wonderful start to October! We have welcomed rising 3rd graders interested in attending MCAA next year for additional assessments, kicked off our Fall Foundation Fundraiser, had visits from Barry Mann with ArtsNow and Kyle Posey with RK Redding Construction as part of our STEAM units and celebrated homecoming. No one does Homecoming quite like Marietta. Staff enjoyed a "tailgate" at school and our MCAA float was a hit! Thank you for all the ways you support MCAA! Our Fall Fundraiser has been a huge success so far. We are very close to our goal so my inflatable costume is ready! Don't forget to mark your calendars for our Fall Festival next Wednesday, October 18th. We can't wait to see you there! Reach out if I can be of any assistance. I am thankful for the ways you support our #tinybutmighty school and it is my honor to serve your family!!

LITERACY LEADERS
State Superintendent Richard Woods presented MCAA with the Literacy Leader Award. Knowing the fundamental importance of early literacy and students' ability to read proficiently by third grade, Georgia recognized just 70 schools with this designation. We are proud of MCAA as #2 in the state when it comes to reading proficiency!
FALL FUNDRAISER GOAL IN SIGHT!!
Thank you for your generosity and support of MCAA. We are at 92% of our goal in just over a week! Just 3 more days to get your donations in! If you have not been able to donate, use the link below. There is no amount too big or too small. We are hoping to raise enough to not only offset the costs of student experiences but also enhance our outdoor learning spaces. I have no doubt we'll get there and I'll get to race my friends in epic fashion Wednesday night. Perhaps we can also get our "Principal for the Day" trained up in time for me to be duct taped to a pole.
CONFERENCE WEEK IS OCTOBER 23-27
You should have received communication from your child's teacher regarding Conference Week (October 23-27). Students will be dismissed at 1:15 during conference week. Be sure to update your child's teacher if his/her transportation will be different than their regular dismissal plan.
PICTURE RETAKES - OCTOBER 25TH
Pictures will be in this week. Re-takes will occur on October 25th
FALL FESTIVAL DINNER PRE-ORDER - OCTOBER 18
Don’t let the dinner hour stop you from attending MCAA’s much anticipated Fall Festival. Come out for games & fun galore but be sure to get your meal requests in early. Pre-order from our pizza menu at https://bit.ly/3tuBSNh to secure your snacks before the bash. Candy is dandy but with dinner, you’re a winner! We look forward to seeing everyone at our Wednesday, Oct 18th event.
CHOA CAPE DAY
Join us on October 20th as we celebrate the brave who have fought or are continuing to fight cancer. Get your capes ready and wear to school on Friday while donating $5 to honor these heroes. Let's honor and celebrate the strong and resilient patients facing illnesses and injuries at CHOA. Everyday, patients overcome health obstacles and face challenges that most of us could never imagine. All proceeds will be donated to CHOA.
NOVEMBER HOLIDAYS
In November, we will highlight and celebrate Dios Los Muertos, Diwali, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, and Native American Heritage Month.
If your family celebrates Diwali, Mr. McDaniel would appreciate it if he could borrow artifacts like books, toys, photos, art, and clothing to display in the media center to highlight the celebration. They will be returned by the end of the month.
ASP REGISTRATION FOR CONFERENCE WEEK - OCTOBER 23-27
