Week Of October 2nd
Highlights From Last Week....
Wow, it is October already!! We are finally starting to settle into a routine. It is amazing to see how much progress we have made within just a few weeks.
In Reader's Workshop, we learned about the three ways to read: Looking at the picture, reading the words and retelling the story. The children are practicing asking themselves "who is in the picture" and "what is going on in the picture. We continued practicing turning and talking.
In Writer's Workshop, we practiced adding details to our stories and also practiced using our sight words to form sentences for our stories. The children LOVE reading and sharing their stories in the class.
In Math, we worked on decomposing numbers to 3 and learned that 1+2=3. We also started looking at numbers 0, 1, 2, and 3. We learned how to write the numbers and used the numeral to represent a quantity.
In Phonics, we learned the sight words "see" and "go", please practice these words at home. So far, our words are: I, like, can, go and see. Our letters of the week were u & i.
