The Connector
News from the Lancaster County School District, Sept. 2022
Lancaster County Community,
I like to think of a new school year as a fresh start, a new beginning, a chance to make new friends, learn new things, seek new adventures. The 2022-2023 school year is off to a great start! As we wrap up week #3, we hope everyone is settling into their new structures and routines. It's time to dive in and make this the best year yet.
We are very appreciative to have such amazing community support. The Lancaster County community went above and beyond to make sure the more than 15,100 students in our District have the supplies they need to start the school year. Thank you ALL for joining us in our mission to put children first in Lancaster County.
I encourage you to stop and take a moment to step away from the hustle and bustle of life to enjoy some downtime during this long Labor Day weekend.
We will see you next week,
Dr. Jonathan Phipps
LCSD Superintendent

See Something, Say Something
There are three ways you can report school crime:
- By completing the fillable form HERE (this form can also be found on the front page of the district website)
- By emailing the information to say.something@lcsd.k12.sc.us
- By calling or texting the information to (803) 320-1672
This crime line is for reporting such incidents as a weapon on school grounds, bullying, harassment, threats, vandalism and alcohol or drugs on school grounds. If you prefer to speak to someone from our safety staff, you may call (803) 320-1672 or (803) 285-6009.
State law and board policy require that law enforcement be notified of criminal behavior committed on campus or during school-sponsored activities.
Please note: In case of a life threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately. This crime line is not monitored 24/7.
School Supply Drive Update
Thanks to our amazing community and the help and support from the residents in Treetops, the first annual LCSD district-wide School Supply Drive was a success! We were able to collect more than $10,000 in supplies and $3,000 in donations. See just how much your community donated by watching the video below.
Combined with other local organization and neighborhood supply drives, we were able to send supplies to support every school in the Lancaster County School District!
A huge wealth of gratitude to the following organizations for supporting our schools:
- Treetops Community
- Classroom Central & The Tepper Foundation
- Sun City Cares
- Transformation Church
- Continental Tire
- United Way of Lancaster
- Crossroads Lutheran Church
P-EBT Update
There were no P-EBT benefits paid for students during the 2021-2022 school year. Summer payments were made by the end of August to students who submitted an application and were approved for free or reduced lunch during the 2021-2022 school year.
All students were fed free due to the pandemic but that does not make them eligible for P-EBT.
Students that were approved for free or reduced meals via meal application between the end of school and August 16th, will be paid P-EBT benefits in late October 2022. There is not an application for P-EBT. Eligibility for P-EBT is solely based on free and reduced meal applications.
