EAST PAULDING MIDDLE SCHOOL
May 23, 2016
Before I begin with all of the "pertinent information"...
I really hope you enjoy this last week! It has been an incredible year, and you all deserve a great summer! You are teacher-warriors, and I could not be more blessed to be here to serve you.
Remember to smile and be happy when those great kids are leaving your class for the last time. Although you will be sad, you should be happy because if you aren't happy to see them go, the ones you are happy about leaving will know how you really felt all this time.
Ha! I am just kidding....but in all seriousness. Thank you! Thank you for working so hard all year long. You are the ones who make EPMS great!
You can wear jeans Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Please dress your best for Thursday.

8th Grade Picnic
Our picnic will be in the gym and outside the gym from 11:30-3:00. We will provide additional details at the beginning of the week. 8th Grade Teachers will bring their 3rd period class to the picnic. Please make sure you are in attendance. We need your help monitoring students.
8th Grade Walk
We will begin our 8th grade walk at approximately 9:00 on Thursday morning. All 8th homeroom teachers will bring their students to the gym immediately following announcements where I will briefly speak to them.
1. From the gym, we will walk to and through the 6th grade hall towards the bus loop.
2. We will exit the building and walk along the sidewalk to the front of the building.
3. We will enter the front of the building and walk down the main hallway.
4. 8th graders not participating in awards day will peel off at the 600 hall and they will report to designated classrooms (those will be shared by Wednesday).
5. 8th graders participating in awards day will continue back to the gym.

Behavior Management and the Final Week
First of all....if you need our assistance, please contact the front office....
This week is going to be super challenging in regards to managing classroom behavior if you do not have engaging activities planned for your students. I am asking you to maintain consistency within your room. You all did a great job this past week and I know you will continue those efforts!

Continue to be consistent on electronic devices. Mixed messages make it very difficult to manage so I am asking you to please make sure students are only allowed to use E.D.'s for instructional purposes...(listening to music while they are working is not instructional).
Thank you in advance for helping us make the last 10 days of school run smooth!
Room #'s for 16-17
I wanted to let you know your room #'s for next year by the end of this past week. Unfortunately, this was not possible due to some unforeseen circumstances. I will let you know on Tuesday as well as tentative sections you will be teaching next year (co-taught, advanced, on-level).
Sorry for the delay in this but I only want to make sure everything is good to go!

Promotion/Retention
Thank you all for a great grade-level session on Thursday. Your decisions were made with great thought, and I really believe you had your students' best interest at heart! It was not an easy day, but you all did great!
We will begin informing parents of any students being retained or placed on Monday.
