News and Notes from Doniphan Middle School

Spring 2019

It has been several months since we have had a newsletter go out. My apologies for letting so much time and so many school events slip by without an update. Now that we are into the second week of April and Spring has sprung, we have many things to look forward to between now and the end of this school year. It doesn't seem like we should be thinking about the end of the year, but it is only about a month away. Read on for news and events for this busy last month!

MAP Test

At the end of April we will begin our annual state testing, known as the Missouri Assessment Program, or MAP test. Each year our Middle School students are all tested in English and Math. Additionally, 8th grade students are also tested in Science. These tests are important for a variety of reasons. One of the reasons this is an important test is to help our school measure student growth in learning. The results of each test are one tool that our teachers use to help design quality learning experiences to help meet our students' needs. A second reason why these tests are important is that they are used by the state of Missouri as a measure of how effective our school is in helping our students learn grade level material.

During 5th hour Advisory this month all of our students are working on skills that will help them feel confident and prepared to take the MAP test in just a few weeks. When MAP testing arrives, we would very much appreciate your partnership with us in helping your child be prepared to put forth their best effort each day. Getting plenty of rest each night, eating a good breakfast, and being on time for school each day will help set your child up for a successful morning of testing.

MAP testing will start on Tuesday, April 30th and run through the following week. A detailed testing schedule will be sent home closer to the 30th. Any updates to the testing schedule will be posted on Facebook.
