Lesson Frame Review (Part 1)
A lesson frame represents the beginning and end of a lesson. The first part is the daily learning objective; it's a statement of what the student can expect to learn today. The second part is the closing question, product, or task-how the student will demonstrate the understanding of the learning objective for that day.
Essential Elements:
1. State the Lesson Frame at the Beginning of the Lesson, refer back to it in the Middle & at the End of the Lesson
2. Lesson Frames are written in student-friendly language. "We will/I will"
3. Lesson Frames should be posted throughout the lesson so teachers & students can refer back to it throughout the lesson.
Lesson Frame Review (Part 2)
Lesson frames provide "Relevance."
Relevance makes content "sticky."
When a lesson frame is posted and referred to during a lesson it provides students INSTRUCTIONAL FILTERS.
Students are better able to sort through lesson content and prioritize information into different categories when lesson frames are provided.
Teachers also benefit from lesson framing. An effectively framed lesson provides the teacher with a clear direction for planning out a lesson along with meaningful, relevant activities!
