Measure E Update:
Neighbors, parents, and other members of the Robinson school community are invited to a briefing on the existing Measure E new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) project for Jackie Robinson K-8 Academy. Measure E improvements for HVAC and related work for Robinson Academy is scheduled to start in the summer of 2021.
Additional related work includes accessibility improvements, ceiling/lighting renovations, fire alarm upgrade, and utility infrastructure upgrades. This is possible due to voters’ approval November 2016 of the $1.5 billion school bond initiative, known as Measure E.
To learn more about how this project will affect your neighborhood and how we plan to minimize inconveniences related to parking, traffic and noise, tune in for this upcoming information session available on the LBUSD YouTube Channel beginning Friday, October 30th at LBschools.net/YouTube then go to Playlists and select Measure E.

LONG BEACH COLLEGE PROMISE
I t a l y G o n z a l e s ! ! !
Congratulations to our 8th grade LB College Promise recipient Italy Gonzalez. Italy will receive tuition-free instruction for the first two years at LBCC and is guaranteed admission to CSULB.
ATTENDANCE
No one likes to loose but unfortunately we have lost our ALL IN Attendance Trophy because we fell below the 96% attendance rate as a school site. We can reach the 96% attendance rate for every class with your help and support. Please continue to encourage your students to engage and participate in their learning everyday. We want to gain back our ALL IN Attendance Trophy.
ATTENDANCE
Research has shown that absences negatively impact a student’s education and reduce
opportunities for success in school. As such, the District will monitor online participation on a
daily basis and communicate with you if your child is absent from their online learning sessions.
In addition, we will proactively work with you to identify and resolve any barriers to your child’s
Participation. Please alert your teacher or call the Office if your student is our sick or can’t log for connectivity reason.
Our Dolphins have 3 major responsibilities: engage in learning, complete assignments on time, and stay in touch with teachers.
Parents can help too by:
*Establishing a routine for bed time and for the morning for your child
*Checking on your child’s attendance regularly (ParentVue)
*Encouraging your child to log in to CANVAS account, participate and engage unless he/she is truly sick
*Calling the school and provide notes when your child is absent
*Communicate with your teacher or Office to report any technology problems.
Master Schedule: Ths Monday November 16th is M2(alternating Monday) which means that students attend the Wednesday/Friday electives and PE Class. (Este lunes 16 de noviembre es M2 (miercoles/jueves alternos) lo que significa que los estudiantes asisten a las clases electivas de martes/jueves y a la clase de educación física. Monday Calendar
Congratulations to our Perfect Attendance recipients. We are so proud of the 100% effort in engagement and participation. It was great to see you & your families as you picked up certificates and popcorn today 11/13. WAY TO GO DOLPHINS!
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is the month of hope and blessings. We are grateful for all of you and all the work that you do for our students and community. Let us show our support and love of giving to our families by donating Holiday Baskets. I am asking that each grade level adopt a family or 2 and donate a basket, I am ready to deliver. Please email Rima the name of the family you are willing to adopt.
Middle School Grading
Please enter all your assignments and grades in CANVAS. On 9/11 CANVAS will move grades into Synergy. This is a One-Time Transfer of grades. Every assignment in Canvas will transfer unless you have checked hidden.
Synergy TVUE window will open 11/10 and close 11/16: during this window all teachers have to verify grades, make changes if needed, mark all of the conduct, and add any other comments.
Please check the Google Doc to enter and verify grades:
I will be monitoring TVUE during this window to make sure that all grades, conduct, and comments are in....If you need any help or have questions, please reach out to me.

Summary of Meal Service Changes, Effective October 19, 2020
To improve meal services and support the needs of families in our community and our employees, Nutrition Services will make the following changes in meal distribution, effective October 19, 2020:
1. Grab and Go meals for two days at each pick-up – Students and parents/guardians may pick up two days’ worth of meals on alternate days instead of making the daily trips.
- Monday’s pick-up includes meals for Monday and Tuesday.
- Wednesday’s pick up is for Wednesday and Thursday.
- Friday and Saturday’s meals are available for pick-up on Friday.
This change is in support of social distancing and minimizes the exposure of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) for families and our frontline employees.
2. Four meal types will be available for each day: breakfast, lunch, snack, and supper at all service locations – Each recipient will receive eight meals as a unit.
3. Universal meal pick up period from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – This change streamlines the meal pick up period for all service locations regardless of grade levels and takes the guesswork out of parents on the meal pick up time, especially for parents with school age children in multiple grade levels.
4. Offer versus Serve for milk – This change allows recipients to decline milk or take only the quantity of milk that they desire to reduce waste.
Parents/guardians picking up meals without children present or picking up additional meals for children who stay at home must present documentation for verification. Nutrition Services Branch employees are expected to ask for the acceptable documents daily even if the parents/guardians have been visiting the same location. The acceptable documents include but are not limited to the following.
a. LBUSD student ID
b. Any student ID issued by any agencies
c. Benefit issuance letter showing children are part of the adult’s household:
§ Meal Eligibility Letter from LBUSD or any districts
§ Benefit issuance document from Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)
d. Tax Returns
e. Birth Certificate
f. Any official documents showing children are part of the adult’s household
Any questions regarding meal services should be directed to Nutrition Services Branch at 562-427-7923. Thank you.
