One More Opportunity to Learn

According to the Iowa Data Center, in the last 20 years the number of Latinx students in Iowa schools has increased by 266%. The number of Spanish speaking English Learners in public schools has increased by 232.8% over the same period.

We would like to extend an invitation to all educators serving these students to join us to learn from Al Exito's Executive Director Dawn Martinez Oropeza about how to better understand and best support our Spanish speaking EL student populations from a community standpoint.

w/Al Exito Youth Presenters and Guests

This session will provide best practices and strategies to create a welcoming climate for students. Al Éxito youth will present their action-oriented recommended practices that can positively impact Latinx youth experiences in schools. Examples of partner staff and administrators’ actions that created an inclusive environment for students will be highlighted.
