Map Testing

MAP testing will begin this week. Goal setting and progress monitoring are an essential part for students pushing themselves forward in the learning. Ms. Shiflett has a sign in her room which states, "Students with goals succeed because they know where they are going." This statement is so true. Below you will find a link to an excel spreadsheet with with the progress monitoring for Map. The tabs on the bottom will take you to the appropriate grade level and test. Please set goals with your students and discuss their process throughout the year. Students should know their scores from last year prior to taking the MAP test this round. You can access these scores from Edugence.

Staff Meeting Wednesday @ 3:15

During our staff development session on Wednesday we will meet in the library where we will advance or begin our knowledge of the Twitter universe. LaDonna will be here to help us set up accounts or challenge us if we already have accounts. Please plan on bringing whatever device you plan to use for Tweeting out to the world. The accounts we establish will be for professional purposes. Let me know if you have any particular questions you would like covered during this time.

Here is a great guide to twitter for those of you who enjoy self-teaching:

Essilor will be here next week to begin the screening process to see which of our students could benefit from receiving a free pair of glasses. Volunteers will be coming by your room to get students. Please be flexible as the team does their best to make sure the students are screened. We will be using room 523 for the screening.

Focus Point: SLANT

As a school having common language around behavioral expectations can help our students transitions throughout the day. Going forward we would like all classrooms to use the acronym SLANT for reminding their students to Sit Up, Listen, Answer/Ask Question, Nod your head, and Track the Speaker. Below is a fun rap to help students remember...Kinda fun made by a teacher just like all of you. How will you teach your students to SLANT?
