Learning to understand and care about the feelings of others is one of the most important steps in a child’s development—and it’s never too early to help little ones build those skills. This beautifully illustrated storybook teaches young kids how to recognize and practice empathy through simple real-life scenarios that are easy for them to understand. It’s written with clear language for adults to read aloud and features discussion questions and activities that encourage kids to talk about what they learned and use it in their lives.

Empathy Is Your Superpower features:

  • Empathy heroes—Little superheroes Emmanuel and Emma model easy, age-appropriate ways for kids to practice empathy every day.
  • Ways to set a good example—Kids will learn to put themselves in someone else’s shoes, lend a helping hand, and inspire others to do the same.
  • Using empathy for life—Tips, reflections, and games will help adults foster empathy in children for their whole lives.

Teach kids to be kind and considerate, with a fun and friendly book about the importance of empathy.

We have books available for parents. Please send a request to to request a book be sent home with your child.

Distinguished Artist - Congratulations Tenley

Tenley is the Distinguished Artist for her fish bowl project. We read the book Not Norman A Goldfish Story by Kelly Bennett. We were inspired to make our own goldfish. This was a multistep process including drawing the bowls, using bleeding tissue paper for the water, construction paper for our fish and colored sand for the bottom of the bowl. Tenley was chosen for her fish bowl for following all the steps and her adorable goldfish drawing.
Way to go Tenley!

Baker Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9 students are chosen as a Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a student who is responsible in art, shows their creativity and works hard on all projects. Mrs. Spicer chooses 3 to 4 pieces of artwork in which the students followed directions and completed the project adding their creativity. A committee of staff members then votes on the projects to choose the winner.
