MCCHS FRIDAY FOCUS
66th Edition: March 9, 2018
Pilgrims on the Way of Truth
A special note about this year's Quarter 3 Exams: Our exams are scheduled for Wednesday, March 14th and Thursday, March 15th. Much like 1st Quarter Exams, day 1 of exams will be a FULL school day, with exams in various periods. Day 2 of exams will be the three remaining periods, with a 10:40 am school dismissal.
We have been mindful of the various events that have been planned, both at the national and local level, to recognize and support the victims of the school shooting in Florida last month. As with every experience at Marian Central, we humbly turn to our faith. At 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 14th, we will invite our students, faculty, and staff to join in an all-school prayer, including a Decade of the Rosary in recognition of those students and faculty who lost their lives. To honor this moment as a school, we have decided to make a slight alteration to our exam schedule. Cardinal DiNardo of Galvaston-Houston, president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, urges us "to unite our prayers and sacrifices for the healing and consolation of all those who have been affected by violence...and for a conversion of heart, that our communities and nation will be marked by peace" (NCR, 2018). We believe this prayer service will allow our students to come together to witness the strength of our faith while still protecting our exam schedule.
Here is the Quarter 3 2018 Exam Schedule:

Party Like It's 1929!
SWEATER-SEASON ENDING SOON!
SENIORS: If you do not plan to pass along your sweaters to family or friends, please consider donating your sweaters to the school! Every summer, we open our uniform inventory to all of our families at no charge. We especially like to provide replacement uniforms free of charge to our seniors, when needed. We are accepting clean sweaters in good shape in the front office!
STUDENT ID/LUNCH CARD - Helpful Hint!
Please know that we will not be issuing any paper-excuse slips for missing Student ID cards to use to purchase lunches. If you must replace your Student ID, please request through the school office and pay $5.
ALSO: Did you know that a PHOTO of your Student ID (on your phone) actually will scan properly in the cafeteria as well as the front office? Please consider taking a PHOTO of your ID (student photo, full name, and bar code must be fully visible) and make sure the screen-lighting is on HIGH for a proper scan. Our cafeteria and office staff have been testing this method out in the past weeks, and have reported that it works well and aids in a quicker processing!
Please take this time to speak to your student about your expectations on sharing lunch-funds. We see many students purchasing lunch items for others, or on behalf of friends at their table, and cannot closely monitor every purchase. If you suspect an ID to be lost, please contact our school office and we can place a hold on that account immediately.
18-19 COURSE CHANGES DUE MARCH 19th!
Just a friendly reminder that course changes for next year, including the payment of AP fees, should be submitted by March 19th in order to avoid the $30 course change fee. Please see Guidance for more information!
Attention Freshman & Sophomore Parents - PROM Volunteers Needed

Doing any DRESS SHOPPING?
PROM -FORMAL (April 27th - Juniors and Seniors only) Gowns and Tuxedos are the typical attire for this event. Again, with dresses, since there are so many selections out there - it is important that our school's conservative attire is respected.
Society (and the media) may be tempting our young men and women to dress and behave far beyond their age - but we have to do our best to protect the age they actually are. Thank you for always partnering with us in this effort to prepare them for adulthood, while still honoring and protecting their age.
We hope you find this Semi/Formal Dress Guideline helpful!
