Talley Street Update
October 7, 2019
From the Principal
Dear Talley Street Community,
We truly appreciate your cooperation in helping to make arrival and dismissal as safe as possible. Please remember that only right turns are allowed into the school's parking lot during morning and afternoon dismissal. We are seeing a growing number of cars trying to make left turns. Also, cars should not stop at the school entrance on Talley Street to drop students off. All car riders should be dropped off through the regular carpool line.
Lastly, I'm pleased to share that the first Principal's Coffee Chat of the school year will be held on Friday, October 25 immediately following the Talley Rally. I will share information on the school's Title I Program.
Thank you and have a great week!

Gifted Review
Important Information about Gifted Review
Each fall semester the gifted review team looks at existing student data to discuss students’ needs and to determine if further evaluation for possible gifted identification is needed. If you are interested in having the team discuss your child’s needs, you may complete a Recommendation for Review Form (found at the website below) and submit it to the Gifted Specialist at your child’s school by October 9th. No additional information is needed. The Gifted Specialists for Talley are Nicole Fiber and Stephanie Trauner. For more detailed information about the review process and to obtain a copy of the Recommendation for Review Form, please contact the Gifted Specialist for your school at Talley or visit the following website: https://www.csdecatur.net/Page/581.

District-Wide News
News from the City Schools of Decatur
You may have noticed that over fall break, the City Schools of Decatur installed new signs to replace the existing signs on our school properties. The goal of these new signs is to reinforce the existing rules and guidelines for the use of our property. The use request statement on the signs is intended for groups using our properties for organized events and activities and all visitors during school hours. Organized use of school property, such as a soccer club or planned group events, must be authorized through a facility use agreement with City Schools of Decatur prior to the meeting or event. School grounds, such as playgrounds and fields, are still available for drop-in use by individual community members and families outside school hours and scheduled events. Organizations that have been given authorization through our facility use agreement will have priority on the space.
No changes have been made to the district's long-standing facilities use policies and practices. We continue to support the use of school greenspace by our neighbors and have simply posted these reminders about the responsible use of district facilities.
If you have questions about the facility use process and procedures, please contact Noel Maloof at nmaloof@csdecatur.net.
