The New Deal
There is no doubt that people living through the late 20s and early 30s were stunned at how quickly life turned upside down! From easy livin to great depression- life went downhill suddenly for many Americans. In order to help alleviate this crushing blow, then president Franklin Roosevelt introduced legislation he coined The New Deal!
In the notes today you wll look closely at
- The living conditions of people around the country during the Depression
- How President Roosevelt tackeled the economic crisis
- Various New Deal programs that were set up to help Americans during the Depression
- The effectiveness of the New Deal in ending the Depression

Assignment 1 will be graded quiz. Be sure you have a firm grasp on the notes and terms from the lesson before attempting.
Assignment 2 For this activity you complete a chart on New Deal legislation and you will compare and contrast the reactons of Hoover and Roosevelt to the Great Depression. To help you with the assignment, I have linked a quizlet below that outlines how both men responded to this national crisis.
About Ms. Davis
I am veteran teacher with 28 years of teaching experience in North Carolina. My experience has spanned grades from kindergarten to grade 12 and I LOVE teaching high school! I am certified in Social Studies, grades 9-12, English Language Arts 6-12, and Media/Information Science K-12. I earned my bachelor's and master's from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I earned National Board's Certification in 2007 and renewed in 2016.
My hobbies include traveling, sewing and spending time with my two children, Steven and Jacob and my cat Sally Mae. I also enjoy dabbling in graphic design.
