Model UN Success

New Tech High @ Coppell Model United Nations Delegates competed at the North Teas High School Model Arab League competition at the University of North Texas at Denton this past November 17th. Delegates winning recognition were Grace Kottak, Manasa Velamuri, and Bhargav Vedula for Best Delegates in the Social Affairs Council representing the United Arab Emirates.
Delegates Sahil Chiniwala, Marc Hatanpass, and Mahum Rana awarded Outstanding Delegates in the Joint Defense Council representing Palestine. The NTH@C Model UN Organization is sponsored by Facilitators, Danae Boyd, Brian Hussey, Brock Hesse and YMCA Coordinator Tori Grossi.
Established in 1983, Model Arab League (MAL) is the National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations’ flagship student leadership development program. The Models are similar in organization and format to the older and more widely recognized Model United Nations (MUN), with its 193 member states.

Looking for Japanese 101 Help

Are you fluent in Japanese? Do you know someone who is? Mrs. Hunter is hosting a Japanese 101 class for New Tech learners on Flex Wednesdays. She lived in Osaka, Japan for a year and enjoys sharing her experiences with learners. She is looking for a volunteer to come in on Flex Wednesdays to informally teach New Tech learners Japanese. She has a large group of learners that are interested in Japanese culture, anime, and manga. Please contact her at

Accommodation Information for National Testing

If your child will be participating in PSAT, SAT, ACT, or AP testing, you do have to apply for accommodations on your own. Here is the link for information. The deadline to submit accommodations for the Feb 20th 11th grade ACT is January 11th.

Spring Dual Credit Info


Please read the following information carefully if you intend to register for Dual Credit courses this Spring OR if you are currently enrolled in Dual Credit.

Attached is the Dual Credit packet. You can go HERE to search the courses that will be available.

Dual credit registration for the Spring semester opens 11/20. Below are important dates:

  • Priority Registration (current students) - begins November 20, 2018
  • Regular Registration (new students) - begins November 26, 2018
  • Registration ends January 16, 2019
  • Classes begin January 22, 2019

If you have never taken a dual credit course before, then you will need to:

  1. Apply to DCCCD
  2. Create an eConnect Account
  3. Take the TSI (unless exempt)
    • Exemption Criteria
      • ACT Aspire - 435 English, 431 Math
      • ACT - 23 Composite with minimum of 19 in English and/or Math
      • SAT - 480 on EBRW and/or 530 on Math
      • See packet for more
    • When and How to take TSI
      • Go to Northlake to get referral from dual credit advisor
        • North Campus Tue and Wed 8:30-5:30
        • Central Campus Mon-Thu 8:30-4:30 or Fri 8:30-2:00
      • Take TSI
  4. Prepare and gather all required forms below and in the attached packet
    • Complete form HERE (required)
    • Turn High School Enrollment form in to box outside Kennington's office. It will be signed and then returned to you with your transcript.
  5. Take forms to Northlake to Enroll in course

If you have taken dual credit before, then you will need to:

  1. Complete form HERE (required)
  2. Complete and turn in ONLY the High School Enrollment form to box outside Kennington's office. It will be signed and then returned to you with your transcript.
  3. Take forms to Northlake to enroll in course.

**Do not sign up for a course that will not fit in your NTH@C schedule. You are not allowed to show up late or leave early from a class for dual credit.**

Please remember to send an official transcript to New Tech at the end of each semester for which you take classes. We need these transcripts to add your courses to your high school transcript.

Special Olympics Shirt Ordering

On January 17th from 6:30-8:30 there will be a bingo night held at New Tech to benefit Special Olympics. If you would like to purchase the events shirt please click on the link and fill out the form. They are $20 and all proceeds are going to Special Olympics. Money and orders are due by December 15th. Shirts can be ordered here:

Students who have lost their ID cards can go to our website at the top of the paige says ID cards they can choose that option and order an ID, it will ship to their home for $5.00.

Coppell Gifted Association Creative Writing Competition

Our 11th Annual Creative Writing Competition is now open for entries! Competition is open to all writers in the 4th-12th grades (Non-Coppell ISD students must be a CGA member to enter). Deadline for entries is December 7, 2018 at midnight, and entries must be in either our Story or Poetry categories.
