REMINDER ABOUT PARENT PICK UP/DROP OFF CHANGES

Just a reminder that our parent drop-off location has changed and is now on the east side of Nicollet near the tennis courts (the same location as parent pick-up). Please circle around the lot rather than pulling into parking spaces to avoid having your child cross through traffic to enter the school.

If you are dropping your child off at school after 7:45 AM, please drop them off at the front of the school, door 1, because they will need to check into the office for a tardy pass to class.

Please do not enter the driveway between Sky Oaks and Nicollet. This is where buses are entering and exiting and dropping students off here is a safety concern.

ATTENDANCE REMINDERS

If you know your student needs to leave early for the day PLEASE send a note with them to school. This ensures you are able to pick them up in a timely manner. We get many requests at the end of the day for early pickup and a note would make the process much smoother. They will be given a pass to leave class at that time. When you arrive at Nicollet call us and we'll send them out to you!

A reminder that school begins at 7:50. The building opens to students at 7:30. Please ensure students are dropped off each morning by 7:45 AM at the latest so that they have time to get to their lockers and classes in time for the start of classes at 7:50 AM.

We are unable to deliver messages to students after 2:30.
Please call before 2:30 if you need change your student's transportation plans.

The School Day ends at 2:50. Please make sure students are picked up by 3:00 PM each day unless they are staying after for a school activity.

CELL PHONES AWAY FOR THE DAY!

We want students to able to focus in on their learning and so are asking that cellphones are kept in lockers throughout the school day from the first bell to the last bell. We appreciate your support in sharing this reminder with your child.

We also encourage students to leave AirPods at home or in their lockers throughout the day. If a teacher requires headphones for a class assignment, corded headphones that can plug into students' chromebooks are the preferred headphones because they connect directly to a learning device and they are less likely to be lost or stolen. We do have some corded earbuds available for students in the main office if needed.

Home Rapid Test Kits for Students

These are still available in the Main Office of Nicollet beginning again on Tuesday, January 19.

Thanks to funding from the state of Minnesota, District 191 has a limited supply of BinaxNOW rapid, at-home COVID-19 tests available for students.

These tests are for students only, but need to be picked up by an adult.

Unfortunately these tests cannot be used to end a student's quarantine time. A PCR test is required for this purpose.

Information is available in other languages here.

Here's more information about the BinaxNOW rapid antigen test.

Vaccine info for 5-12 year olds

The webpage, mn.gov/vaxforkids, was created to be a resource for families to learn about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine for children and teens, understand what to expect when their child gets vaccinated, and why it is important to do so. The site will also help parents find the right vaccination experience and location for their child.

In addition to the webpage, two new videos were created featuring Minnesota pediatricians sharing information about the COVID-19 vaccine for children and why it is important to get kids vaccinated:

Also there are social graphics and translations are available on the Share Our Message page for use by schools and other community members to share this message.
