Benton High School Military Ball
The Benton High School JROTC Department held its 48th Annual JROTC Military Ball on April 29th at the Benton Event Center. This event hosted over 190 students, their guests, and several award presenters from various local organizations. This year, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie Weber represented the Sons of the America Revolution, Mr. and Mrs. Oschner represented The Daughters of the American Revolution, The United States Daughters of 1812, and the National Society of Daughters of the American Colonist, Colonel Harold Tucker represented the Association of the United States Army (AUSA), Lieutenant Colonel Juddie Watchel represented Military Order of World Wars (MOWW) and the Military Officers Association (MOAA), Staff Sergeant Andrew Garcia with the United States Army Recruiting Command and Sergeant Logan Bob with the United States Marine Corp Recruiting Command.
This event allows the Benton JROTC Instructors, LTC Timothy Farmer and MSG Michael Billingsley, to recognize several outstanding cadets for their academic, community service and athlete achievements during the 2015-2016 school year.
CTE Center Project
The seven Saline County Superintendents and Executive Committee met on April 20, 2016 with Stantec to review the following pieces of the project:
- Review and Affirm Project Program
- Review Space Typologies (Images of Spaces)
- Presentation of Site Concept Development
- Presentation of Site Campus Options/Property Configurations
- Discussion/Approval of Campus Development Option
- Next Steps – Phase 5: Schematic Design Concept Presentation
We have two video workshops scheduled in May and June with the members of the Executive Committee and Stantec to continue working on the design and students needs of the facility.
Per the request of the Executive Committee and the 7 Saline County Superintendents , we will provide a presentation on the CTE center and the conclusion of the feasibility study for our school boards at the beginning of next school year.
Next Fall, a celebration and presentation will be held. All stakeholders will be invited to join in the festivities.
Stantec is returning on June 16, 2016 to meet with the CTE Executive Committee.
Super Summer is a week long summer enrichment opportunity provided on June 6-10 in the afternoon for kids who have completed kindergarten through 6th grade. All of our campuses will finish general testing over this next week. Campuses will continue with make-up testing. The testing window closes on May 13, 2016.

- If they are MSAA, then they will NOT take the ACTaspire
