The Directors

Amber Evans

This is Ms. Evans's tenth year teaching and fifth year at Murphy. Ms. Evans was born in St. Louis and went to school at Millikin University where she studied Vocal Music Education and played in the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra with a Young Artist Award for cello and worked as an intern with the Millikin Children's Choir Program. Ms. Evans participated in both Choir and Orchestra since the fourth grade! She loves telling stories, helping her students grow and mature, making music and laughing with the students of Murphy Choir.

Melanie Altman

Ms. Altman is in her fifth year of teaching, all of which have been at Murphy! Born in Washington, DC, Ms. Altman also spent part of her life in New Orleans, where she joined choir in sixth grade and began studying private voice. Upon graduation from high school in Texas, she attended Sam Houston State University (Go Bearkats!) and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education. Aside from teaching choir and laughing with her students every day, Ms. Altman sings soprano two with the Plano Civic Chorus and enjoys performing as a chorister multiple times throughout the year. Ms. Altman loves to spend time outside of school cheering on her favorite football teams with her family, her two fluffy cats, and her best friends. Her favorite parts of her job as an MMS Choir director are being goofy with Ms. Evans, getting to know her students, and stretching before singing! :)
