Absent Students

If your child is absent from school they can access assignments and dates using Google Classroom. If you have accepted the invitation sent by teachers you should have access as well. Teachers are not recording lessons this year to post, but are using it as a digital assignment calendar.

Any questions about assignments or grades, please email the teacher directly. It may take 24 hours for them to return your email, and we appreciate your patience. After hours emails are not opened until the following day in general.

BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL

Students are asked to arrive after 7:15 and go to the cafeteria where they will sit until 7:35. At 7:35 they are released to get ready for class. The first bell rings at 7:45 and class begins at 7:50.

After school students should be off campus by 2:45 or in the direct supervision of a coach, club leader, teacher or after school program coordinator.

Boise Parks and Rec will be hosting an after school program in the Wrestling Room after Labor Day. Students must register for this program and more details will be coming. The program hours are 2:30-5:30.

Sick Students

If your child has a cough, sore throat, or other symptoms of illness please do not send them to school until they are symptom free without medications for 24 hours. Please reach out to the school if your child is experiencing illness symptoms.

In addition to the bikeway, the project includes new sidewalks on Cassia between Shoshone and Latah, and Cassia between Troxel and Franklin Park.

  • Expect additional congestion when paving occurs in September.

Landscape repairs are continuous until the completion of the construction project. Storm water paver installation is occurring between Latah and Shoshone.

  • The final location of this project is at the intersection of Roosevelt and Cassia. ACHD will be installing pedestrian and bicycle improvements including a
  • Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon crossing Roosevelt Street.
    Construction begins Fall 2021.

Devices and Chargers

Students need to bring fully charged computers to school each day along with their charger.

Students also need to have headphones (wireless or wired) each day. They can purchase them in the office for $1.00, but we do not have loaners.

It is highly recommended that all students purchase the optional DEVICE DAMAGE DEPOSIT. It is $25 annually and covers accidental damage to devices and chargers. It can be purchased through the webstore link on the school's homepage at: south.boiseschools.org

STAR Testing and Reading Intervention

September 7-10 is the Fall STAR testing for reading. From that data we will identify students in need of additional reading support to be placed in small groups. We are fortunate to have received a grant to purchase licenses for an awesome program called ACHIEVE 3000 which has been proven to increase a students reading skills by up to 5 grade levels in one year. Feel free to reach out if you have questions about our reading intervention.
