The World of Westwood Wolves
Unleashing the Power of Our Pack- #PackPower!
Westwood's Mission:
February 5, 2023
From the principal's office...
Well, none of us saw this week coming! I was very surprised when my alarm went off at 4:50 Monday morning to see a text from a district administrator that school was closed. I really thought the yucky weather would start Monday afternoon. We really hate it when we can't have school in person with our kids, but we appreciate you doing your best at home to help them keep thinking and learning! You can send work your child completed at home back to school Monday, and you do have the option of sending in to the teacher via pictures/email/Seesaw/etc. Tuesday through Friday did count as school days, so the teachers need to see the work somehow.
Since Monday was an actual snow day, we will make that day up at the end of the year, so the last day for students should now be Friday, May 26th. I will change out the district academic calendar at the bottom of this newsletter as soon as it has been updated.
Parents of 5th graders- if your student is going to Helen Tyson for middle school, they would love your input on what opportuniites you are interested in for your child. Please click here to complete a brief survey. Mr. Scott would really appreciate your insight!
We hope you have a great week!
Mrs. Crumby

Information shared previously...
Can each class spell Westwood?
When students are late, they miss free breakfast (we always try to ask if they still need breakfast, but sometimes when it's busy in the office, it's hard to make sure). Also, every grade does some reading instruction first thing in the morning, so kids who aren't here on time miss that as well. Many students have a hard time coming in being ready to learn when they are upset or thrown off from being late. Please help us help our Wolves get off to the best start possible each day!
Car rider help...
We appreciate all of you who follow procedures and rules set in place to keep everyone safe and make our car line run smoothly. Thank you!
How do I receive information from Westwood?
PHONE CALLS: We also send out phone calls through an automated system; you will receive these calls if your phone number is correct in Registration Gateway. If your number changes, you can update the information in Registration Gateway, or call the office to update.
SOCIAL MEDIA/WEBSITE: The weekly parent update and other announcements/stories are also posted on our school's Facebook page and website. We are working on activating our school's Instagram account also- we'll let you know when that's up and running.
PAPER NOTES: We also send out paper notes at times; most of these will be sent in folders that come home every Tuesday. Every now and then, we need to send information on other days, so it's a great practice to check the backpacks each afternoon/evening.
We don't want you to miss any information, so we put things out in lots of ways!
Does your child want to use a device at school?
